Guest guest
Barb You are the one person that I seem to be able to get the answers to my questions. Thank you. Also, thank you for the soothing words on the full name of pyoderma gangreanous (sp). Bob is meeting with the surgeon and the surgical nurse who deals exclusively with ileo, stoma, etc. field. Hope and pray he gets some relief. Taking off the appliance will be like putting his feet to the fire and I am not going to go to that appt. Still wish I would hear from someone who has experienced this medical issue. Dee
Guest guest
-----Original Message----- Still wish I would hear from someone who has experienced this medical issue. Perhaps you haven’t heard from anyone else, because there’s only a handful of vocal people in our group that have needed this kind of surgery. Of the few who do, it seems like the majority have J pouches, so this isn’t an issue for them. Sorry, wish I could be more helpful. Barb in Texas - Together in the Fight, Whatever it Takes! Guest guest
Dee I have had a few small ulcer-like sores around my stoma on occasion. It seems to happen when the seal around the wafer becomes loose and the skin is exposed to stool. I have always removed the wafer and pouch, washed everything very well and dried the skin with a hair dryer. Then I used extra stomahesive on the wafer so the seal was especially good. After a day or two, I changed the wafer again and checked the skin to be sure it had healed. So far, this has always worked. I have seen some products to help prevent this so I am sure the stoma nurse will be able to help. I realized I am lucky and have no feeling around my stoma so this was never painful, but just looking at a sore that is red and runny makes me wince. Stoma nurses are a wonderful invention, I hope Bob's will be as good as mine. I hope this puts your mind at ease. Take Care MizKitSee what's free at AOL.com.
