Guest guest
Hi Dave: I have noticed a slight ache recently but this morning during class, it was bad enough that I had to take Tramadol. I wonder what that means as far as the disease progress? I have also noticed in the last few days that I feel like I'm running a slight temp. I am normally very, very cold natured but I have been just the opposite recently. Of course, this could be due to my advanced age (I will be 44 Sunday). lol >>> " Dave Caito " 5/16/2007 1:31 PM >>> Hi , I have the same thing and was told that the PSC is the cause or any kind of liver problem can cause this. If you have any other symptoms of bile duct blockage (jaundice, dark urine, nausea etc.) it would probably be a good idea to let your doctor know. It's possible that a round of antibiotics would clear up the symptoms. I suffered through several bouts of this before I finally talked to my doctor about it, and got some antibiotics which cleared things up for several years. athan
Guest guest
Do you still have your gall bladder? I remember a similar pain when mine was acting up. If you still have a fever, call the docs. If it is your gall bladder it will probably get worse and the pain will get worse. Of coarse, it could be something trivial, but with a fever--- I suggest you call. Guest guest
Hi , I am experiencing a similar thing nowadays too. It is difficult to describe. Sometimes feels like a sore muscle, but inside the ribs at the back. sometimes feels like a tightness inside the ribs. Other times I have a tenderness under the last few ribs on the right and on pressing the front RUQ area I get a winded sensation, like there is pressure on the diaphragm. I think I have experienced a " mild " cholangitis attack twice which is where the pain seems much more pronounced (noticeable/uncomfortable)and lasts for at least 24- 48 hours rather than coming and going. Maybe sludgy bile as I am not a good water drinker. Trouble is I have UC, Depression and Fatty Liver. My GI said it could be PSC or the UC (I know Fatty liver can cause fullness in the abdomen too). I have abnormal ALP and GGT and feel fatigued/lethargic so I am sure it probably is the PSC. > Hello Everyone: > I have recently experienced an ache under my shoulder blade on the right side. Guest guest
My husband was dx in 1994 with PSC. Although never been "staged", he presumes he is in stage II liver failure (diabetes, fatigue). The past month he has been experiencing very sudden onset pain in his sternum, which takes his breath away and makes it difficult to take deep breaths. It lasts sometimes 24 hours. He is healthy otherwise and is 42. Could URQ pain be felt in the center of the chest and related to the liver, is this what a cholangitis attack feels like or should he be concerned about it being something else. It has happened probably 4 times in the last month. Thank you! Mattich Husband Tom dx 1994 PSC. Guest guest
I have only experienced that a couple of times. Both times were due to a blockage. It felt as if someone was sitting on the lower portion of my chest. The first time, I was afraid that I was having a heart attack. That was when I was dx in 2001. It happened one time after that and a stent corrected it. No problems since. My best to you and your husband. Guest guest
Has he been eating a lot of asparagus? It can turn your urine green. Or perhaps a new medicine? The chest pain could be from his gall bladder. Chest pain was my #1 symptom of gall bladder attacks. No doubt he should mention it to his doctor and don’t let him sugar coat the pain like men have a tenancy to do Barb in Texas - Together in the Fight, Whatever it Takes! Guest guest
Pain IN the sternum may be Costochondritis (http://www.diagnose- me.com/cond/C598186.html - inflammation of the rib tissue attaching to the sternum). If I remember correctly, Aubrey has seen patients in the ER that insisted they were experiencing a heart attack. It does indeed feel somewhat " breathtaking " ! Costo is also thought to be an autoimmune associated disease/condition (sigh). It does need to be checked out however. When I experienced it several years ago, I got my first stress test - no issues, diagnosis was Costochondritis. My initial symptoms of PSC were pain just below the sternum (just below the xiphoid process). It disappeared with my first ERCP. Arne ....The past month he has been experiencing very sudden onset pain in his sternum, which takes his breath away and makes it difficult to take deep breaths. It lasts sometimes 24 hours... Guest guest
Too funny Barb, I just replied to with the same thing. Tom had collapsed about 4 years ago with severe chest pain and that is exactly what they diagnosed it as. However, now it is happening again just like before, random and smaller "hits" of pain in the sternum but then it fades and is just sore for 24 hours. I asked him last night the frequency and it is at least weekly. Hmm. Always nice to hear from you Barb.
