Guest guest
Is getting DNA testing done, by paying out of one's own pocket, worthwhile? What could/would I gain by getting DNA testing done on myself? Could it give me additional insight for my kidlets? Could it set my mind at ease one way or the other about my situation? My insurance company is giving me the funny run-around about DNA testing. My doctor has written the letter of medical necessity to request it, and submitted it to the Clinical Review Board FOUR (count 'em, 4) times. Supposedly I'd get an answer " yes/no " within 48 hours. The 48 hours passed over a month ago and my doctor has submitted the paperwork three additional times, with no response. Prometheus Labs will give a price break to those who have to pay out of their own pocket. I'm strongly considering doing it, and my hubby is OK with that expense. So... Is it worth while? Does one really gain from getting DNA testing done if one is already (kind'a', sort'a') diagnosed celiac and is already eating the GF diet? It's mainly on my mind because I find myself worried again about my third child. Even my hubby is beginning to think that my third child needs to go gluten free. Thoughts? Vote: yeah/nay - is it worth a couple hundred bucks of cold hard cash to get the blood DNA testing for celiac? And, has any one already been kind'a'/sort'a' diagnosed celiac, gone GF, and then had a NEGATIVE DNA test? And if so, what did you make of it??? (That would be my biggest fear - not that I'm going to spend hundreds of dollars, but what would I do if it came back negative???!!!)
