Guest guest
I had a metal stent fitted just over two years ago. When this clogged up a second one was inserted inside it. This clogged up recently and a 16cm plastic stent is now inside this!! My current consultant wants to remove them all and start again. I always thought metal stents were not removable. Does anyone know of anybody who has had this procedure and what the prognosis is?

If your doctor says he can remove the metal stent. I would have it removed. I would decline the insertion of a metal stent unless I had a malignancy in my biliary tract. I have dropped plastic stents with no problem. They pass easily. Easier to remove also.
