Guest guest
Hi all, I wondered if anyone with PSC has also been diagnosed with Sojgrens Syndrome (dry eyes/mouth)? I understand that it usually effects those with PBC but wondered if anyone here had this problem? I don't know too much about it but I'm sure someone out there can share. from Oklahoma PSC 2002 Building a website is a piece of cake. Yahoo! Small Business gives you all the tools to get online. Guest guest
Hi ; I've read that sclerosing cholangitis can occassionally be associated with Sjogren syndrome (Sicca syndrome); as described in this article from Online Mendelian Inheritance in Man, there seems to be a common genetic predisposition: PANCREATITIS, SCLEROSING CHOLANGITIS, AND SICCA COMPLEX http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/dispomim.cgi?id=260480 For more information on Sjogren's syndrome you might take a look at these articles: SJOGREN SYNDROME http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/dispomim.cgi?id=270150 Sjögren's Syndrome http://www.lef.org/protocols/prtcl-144.shtml The former is a bit technical, while the latter gives more practical information on how to managage dry eyes and mouth. I hope that this is helpful. Best regards, Dave (father of (21); PSC 07/03; UC 08/03)
Guest guest
YES! I have Sojgrens and it is further complicated from meds that I take that also have side effects of dry mouth and dry eyes. Because of it, my mouth is always dry, causing higher levels of bacteria which then makes my mouth prone to more infections and tooth problems (especially decay) I have found Oasis Moisturizing Mouth Spray and it works pretty good, giving me at least a half/hour of moisture in my mouth. Guest guest
, I have chronic dry eyes. The last time that I saw my eye doctor, i told him that i was waking up in the middle of the night with what felt like scratches on my eyes. After checking my eyes, he told me that they were scratched and that it was probably due to my PSC and the my eyes being dry during REM. He told me to use Lubricant Eye Ointment. This can be bought over the counter and it helps with the eyes at night. He didn't call it Sojgrens Syndrome, but it could be.
