I noticed that some of the brands that produce Omega 3 tablets also

add Vitamin E. Is there an Omega 3 product available that does not

include vitamin E? My concern is for having too high a dose of

Vitamin E (if one takes Omega 3 and the combo. ADEK vitamin).

In Israel there are so many companies nowadays that produce Omega

3 (including imported brands) we haven't a clue on how to choose. We

would appreciate recommendations and/ or what to look for in

choosing a brand.

Thank you,

Ellen

Hi Ellen;

As described in this article:

http://www.pinc.com/healthnews/fishoils.html

extra vitamin E is required to get the full benefits of fish oils.

There are the two main reasons why vitamin E is added to fish oils.

1. The vitamin E in the fish oils acts as an antioxidant and prevents

their oxidation. High quality fish oils usually contain vitamin E to

stabilize the product.

2. According to the article above, fish oil supplementation can lower

blood concentrations of vitamin E and so it is a good idea to take

extra vitamin E when adding fish oils to your diet.

Look for fish oils that have been tested for impurities like heavy

metals (e.g. mercury) and PCBs. Our son takes Carlson's Super Omega 3:
