Guest guest
I went through mononucleosis last summer. Now, even though the blood tests show no virus left (CMV or EB), I still have a chronic sore throat, badly swollen glands, difficulty swallowing, and severe pain radiating from the glands down into my neck, which I would rate around an 8 on the " pain face " scale. The symptoms have ebbed and flowed on about a two week cycle for months, but they never go away. I don't have a fever, which may rule out infection, and I don't know if this could be related to the UC/Crohns or PSC. The doctors here don't want to do anything to treat this, and even though tylenol is completely ineffective, they don't want to address the pain issue because of the PSC. Meanwhile, I'm not sleeping more than a couple hours a night because of the pain, and the resulting fatigue plus pain is making daily life pretty miserable. Any thoughts on what's going on and what I can do? Tom PSC 1999 UC/Crohns 2005
Guest guest
Do you have any allergies?.. It almost sounds like a reaction to some allergen. Andi > > I went through mononucleosis last summer. Guest guest
That was my thought as well. Don't you live in the DC area? My mother-in-law lives in DC and has for over 35 years. A few years ago she was overcome with something that sounds very similar to what you're describing. She suffered with the symptoms for months until her doctors finally figured out she had developed allergies. She takes I believe Claritin now and seems to be doing much better... tx, Nina in Philly > It almost sounds like a reaction to some allergen. > > Andi
Guest guest
Thanks for the input...since I seem to be allergic to everything in the air, I'm pursuing that route. After a couple days on Xyrtec and a cortisone nasal spray, my throat is still sore, but the swelling has gone way down. Maybe I'm finally on the right track! Thanks!Tom C , EA Consulting Group, Inc.2005 Loudoun County Service Business of the Year19440 Golf Vista Plaza Ste 240Leesburg, VA 20176 cell faxThis written advice is not intended or written to be used, and it cannot be used by a taxpayer, for the purpose of avoiding penalties that may be imposed on the taxpayer. Allergies are a major pain. I have two huge bay laurels outside my patio that are in full bloom right now, although beautiful, they are driving me nuts. Sneezing, swollen eyes etc..
