Is there a doctor who specializes in immune system diseases? If so, who and where? I have just been diagnosed with Graves Disease. This will be the third auto-immune system disease I've had within the past 7 years. I had UC until my colon was removed. I have PSC also. Any suggestions? Thanks, Beth Fay

Beth,

I don’t know know of a doctor that

specializes in immunie system diseases, but the Mayo clinics seem to have it

all – you might want to start there. I did want to tell you that I have Graves disease and offer my support – you can email

me anytime if you have any questions etc.

The specialty you're looking for is immunology.

When a hospital isn't big enough to have a dedicated immunology

department, immunologists often work in the allergy department. Q has

seen an immunologist who works in the rheumatology dept.

The professional organization in the U.S. is the Clinical Immunology

Society. They have an online referral search here:

The UK group is the British Society for Immunology

Yes, an Immunologist is probably very knowledgeable about immune

disorders. But Graves disease is usually treated by Endocrinologists.
