Guest guest
a You have a unique situation from most of us in that you have PF and COPD and Asthma. Therefore, you're fighting the combination of obstruction and restriction. I'm strictly speculating that the inhaler is to clear the obstruction although some of us with just PF do use one. If so, there are certainly alternative inhalation options available if it stops working as well, although I would not term it as building up resistance. I would simply suggest keeping your pulmonologist well informed as to how its working so alternatives or changes in prescription can be tried if or when needed. You also could potentially be someone who would benefit from a transtracheal method. > > > Hi folks, > > > > [X-(] I am now on 4l of O2 during the day and 3l at night - I need to > take my rescue inhailer abuteral every 4 hours to be able to breath. > I'm getting worried that I am building up a resistance to it. Guest guest
Hi a, It's good to hear from you. Albuterol is a medication that most of us here have limited experience with. I was on DuoNeb which has albuterol for several months after my diagnosis and discharge from that hospitalization. I nebulized with it 4 times a day. Because I don't have any obstructive lung disease it was of no particular value for me and I stopped using it after several months. I think that Bruce's recommendation was probably the best... to keep in close contact with your pulmo in order for him to have all the information he needs to treat whatever comes up with you. You'll be in my thoughts and prayers! Beth-Moderator Fibrotic NSIP 06/06 UCTD 06/08 Abuteral Breathing Hi folks, I am now on 4l of O2 during the day and 3l at night - I need to take my rescue inhailer abuteral every 4 hours to be able to breath. I'm getting worried that I am building up a resistance to it. I don't know what I would do if it stops working. Does anyone else have this problem and any recomendations for me from your experience? In my 4th week of Pulmonary Rehab. a 64 PF '07, COPD, Asthma, Fibromyalgia, CAD, transplant reject in Aug 08 due to comorbid conditions
