This is for the people who have liquid o2 resevoirs in their cars. Do you own them? Does the O2 supplier lend them to you? How does it work?

I did contact my o2 company--Lincare--and they said they would look into it.

My marathon has been working out for me. Although at the ballgame on Friday, it ran out of o2 and i used 3 of the M6 tanks.

when they delivered the large liquid resevoir yesterday, i asked about getting replacement M6's. They want to charge me for them now. Because now that I am on medicare, i had to choose between liquid and the M6 tanks (compressed air?).

so for now i am using liquid, but i worry about leaving the house for a full day and running out of liquid in the marathon. I vary the settings from demand 2 when sitting to continuous 4 when walking. of course the higher the setting, the faster the o2 gets used up.

right now, this has me upset. before i used the liquid and when it ran out i switched to the compressed air for the duration of the outing.

lincare said that if i use the compressed air, they will supply me with as many tanks as neeeded. that would mean carrying lots of tanks with me when i go out since they only last about 2 1/2 hours each.

then suppose i go visit my daughter who lives in New York for a day? they want two weeks notice for an overnight. there goes the spontanaety (spelling?) of a visit to my daughter. It's a 2-3 hour drive one way depending on traffic.

i need to vent. thanks for listening.Pink Joyce IPF 3/06 Pennslvania

The Liberator 10 is manufactured by Caire and many suppliers only carry

Puritan- products. Unfortunately, the smallest Puritan-

makes is 21 liters so double the size and weighs 49 pounds empty and 94

filled. It still rides fine in a vehicle and it is what is generally

supplied by oxygen companies for travel.

They don't know about them. so does anyone know who manufactures the

Liberator 10 or any other portable liquid O2 reseviors?

Joyce, I don't know what they are thinking.. You need tanks for back-up. Do you have a gap policy?if so call and tell them you need a backup system when you go out. Be sure to stress if you have a problem while out you will have to call an Ambulance because you won't be able to breathe.I now use e-tanks on the cart. I'm so used to pulling that thing now it isn't a problem anymore. We do carry quite a few tanks in the trunk. If I am active at ALL I use one an hour. It is just sostrange to even think that could be because at home I use none or very little sitting. 5 to 6 for just getting around then 8 for showering and cleaning, walking. I have 24 e tanks and 12 or so little ones. I think they are B's. Now if I could find a cannula that doesn't make me crazy. The higher flow is soooo loudwith the small nose prongs. The high flow's are hard and heavy. Oh well I guess thatsenough complaining for today.Oh yes you can get Lincare to call by your daughter and they should have supplies delivered there for you.I do that when I go to Tampa. Not a problem with a day before call.  try it. You have reason to vent and I've been there as well.

Ok, now the having to make choice and having no backup they blame on

medicare is false. They will not get extra for supplying you backup and

that part is true, but they should supply what you need. That means

either backup with compressed or two Marathons. As to travel, their

requirement of two weeks notice is also absurd (Apria in this area wants

a month...so worse). I do believe if you talk to them that they can do

better. My supplier can always deliver a 50 pound reservoir for my car

on my regular delivery day. So, all I really have to decide is before my

delivery day. They have also delivered on other days. The one time I

decided at very last minute, I called them, drove by their place on my

way out of town, and they put one in my car.

Now, I recently have had a 50 pound reservoir from my oxygen supplier in

my van for several weeks. Because I wanted something of my own for the

short trips, however, I just purchased about an hour ago a used

Liberator 10. It's less than 2 years old and I paid $225 so felt it was

worth just having. I'll use it for short trips and get a 50 from them

for long trips.

As to them saying they don't have a Liberator 10, I do know that Lincare

is primarily Puritan- but they can get Caire products (are a

customer of Caire). Now, they may not have a Liberator 10 sitting

around, but they can order one. I'm sure they don't want to pay for a

new one though.

Here's what I would suggest you do at this point. Schedule an

appointment to talk to your local Lincare Manager (not the people you've

probably been talking to). In person is even better if you can go there.

Go nicely but explain your situation carefully and your needs. With you

sitting across from him, knowing most managers, he's going to try to

help you with solutions. Sounds like the simplest is back up compressed

and being able to get a travel reservoir when needed. If not back up

compressed, a backup Marathon. Even at worst case if you had to pay,

which you shouldn't, for the second Marathon they should let you have it

for around $35 per month which is about what insurers pay them. I think

if you talk to a manager and explain your situation there's a good

chance of things working. He may need some education as they are use to

COPD patients and most of their customers don't have the same high needs

under exertion we have. So start by begging for help. Now, if that

doesn't work, may be time to demand.

Note, when the bidding was underway here and I wanted to talk to Lincare

just in case, the Manager here, who I did talk to face to face, was

willing to let me have a reservoir for my vehicle full time. Every

manager is different though.

My father inlaw who recently past on bought one of these units with plans to travel with it but never got the chance to after purchasing a caire liberator 10 O2 portable Liquid Oxygen Reservoir from the factory. As it is a specialized item ive been having difficulty deciding where i should advertise this unit to sell as it is no use to us and would possibly be of benefit to someone in need of a smaller portable bottle to travel with. This unit is near new used for a couple of weeks only and still in near new condition. Worth 1400 from the factory i am asking 800 if anyone is interested in the USA
