One thing I'd like to add to the others who've answered you: I had PSC

for at least 17 years, and about 5 weeks ago I had a liver transplant.

For about the first 12 years of that time, I thought of a transplant as

a very negative thing, but over the last few months (and especially

since the transplant) I've come to realize that it is really a new

chance at life. If your PSC does progress to the point where you need

a transplant (which may not happen for a very long time if at all) it is

a great and almost miraculous thing. I'm only five weeks post

transplant and I feel about 15 years younger! I went roller blading

today, bicycling yesterday, canoing the day before, and... hmm I think

the day before that I played a video game! ;-)

PSC isn't easy. The last 17 years have been hard, but they've also been

great years. In that time I graduated college, got a job, got married,

had two beautiful kids, built an addition on my house (just finishing

that up now), and in general lived a very full life. I still have some

hard things to face I'm sure, but life goes on because of a wonderful

gift I've been given, and I plan to live it to the full!
