Guest guest
Ms. McNamara, I can understand that you might not like the show " Heartland " . I can understand that it may not compare favorably to the show " House " . However I was very dismayed at your remarks regarding organ transplants in your 6/18/07 article reviewing " Heartland " . You even objected to the references to " organs " . Yikes. You objected to being exposed to any part of organ transplantations. Apparently everything about organ transplantations makes you squeamish. None of us knows if we will ever need to be an organ transplant recipient. Unfortunately, a few of us are fairly certain we (or someone we love) will need an organ transplant one day. So we know a thing or two about organ transplants & organ donations. We know how hard it is to get an organ and we know that lots of people die while waiting for an organ. We were hoping that " Heartland " may inspire more people to become registered organ donors. But with your review of the show, and your comments on organs and transplants you may have single-handedly killed the show and killed the chance that a few more people may register as organ donors. For the record, this is where I registered to become an organ donor (and where I hope you will register as well): http://www.donateLIFEcalifornia.org. Yes, a person can be a registered organ donor at the same time as needing a new organ. I have plenty of organs that are fine. And hopefully I'll never need a new liver; but if I do, I hope I get one. -Marie
