Guest guest
This just in from MO's CaringBridge site: THURSDAY, JUNE 21, 2007 01:23 PM, CDT " I can't say that this is a good report, but it is what it is. By 5:00 p.m. today my MELD score will be lowered to a 7, and I will no longer be eligible for a cadaveric liver. Apparently, there are two sides arguing here -- the docs who think we should leave my MELD at a 27, and those who think we should recertify with the lower MELD, stating they've bought me some time. In reality they haven't, I just look better on paper. It appears as if those pushing to lower my MELD have won, though. If it weren't for my social worker I would have no idea what is going on. I was under the impression that the 27 was good through Monday, when I would be required to update it. My social worker said that this latest news is the unofficial official word. She said the docs are going to go straight into discussions of live donors, but the problem is I don't have anymore potential donors. If they look at Bruce and Tab's scans and make the same determination that did, I'm back to square one. My social worker is angry and said she yelled at the docs reminding them that the MELD score is not a true indication of how sick I truly am. However, she only has so much clout. As it stands now, I should be released pretty soon and I will go over to the Guest House for now, and back to Missouri on Tuesday. The CT scan was done this morning so I hope to get the results before I leave. If not, I'll check with them tomorrow. Keep the prayers coming...I have to admit that I am not taking this news all that well. I dread telling the news, and I pray that she doesn't get too upset. It's not the ideal situation but it's one we have absolutely no control over. Thanks for your continued prayers and support. Love, "
