Guest guest
Barby, I take acetaminophen w/codeine #3, as needed, for pain. I generally use it most, but not every day of the week. But, I have other gut issues, too, which contribute to my abdominal pain. C. 95 UC, 00 PSC, 04 Partial removal of pancreas from pancreatitis complication following ERCP (I still recommend and get ERCPs when needed, though) > > Hello all, > I had what might be my last ERCP on Tuesday. My hep says there is no more he can do for me in the way of dilating the ducts and said he would contact the tx center about setting up my tx evaluation. He had dilated the ducts in late April and already they were totally closed down. Anyway, the tx eval. is on assuming that the extensive brushings he took in the ducts comes back normal. I was curious about why he wrote an Rx for pain meds and said I would need them. I have had some pretty intense substernal pain recently and maybe that is what he is talking about. However I don't remember any on this forum who said they needed pain meds pre tx. Am I the only one or am I forgetting something? Guest guest
Quantell had intense URQ pain pre-tx. Toward the end he was on methadone, nortriptyline AND T-3. Guest guest
Thanks to C. and Pam for responding to this question. I guess I struggle with just treating pain and not actually doing something to help the cause of the pain. I'm not one to just treat symptoms. What causes the pain some people have pre-tx? I've been developing stones in the bile ducts. Could that be it? So far in the week since the ERCP I haven't needed any pain meds. Guest guest
Stones in the bile ducts can absolutely cause pain. 's pain always improved some after an ERCP. I was also told by one GI here that if the liver is enlarging, the capsule around the liver stretches, which causes pain. The only thing you can do for that is treat the pain and wait for the liver to stop growing. AmiBarby wrote: Thanks to C. and Pam for responding to this question.
