Hi:

I'm wondering if anybody knows (or has experienced) any relationship

between ketosis (your body burning fat when you eat fewer calories

than you need) and itching?

Other than when I eat fats itching increasing it seems like if I eat

very little. (Very little for me is probably less than 2000 calories

- My standard 'diet' used to be 4400-4700 calories per day with a

50/40/10 (Carb/protein/fat) split) [i generally work out a lot - not

much recently though).

Just wondering if anyone knows of any correlation (Either direct), or

indirect (maybe due to the toxic keytones in your body).

Sorry - beyond/outside my experience. I don't eat a lot of fat (usually) -

most often about half of the " recommended " MDR. I shoot for 2000

calories/day, with fat grams around 30-40. I also don't eat a lot of

(animal) protein. I'd guess a pound a month of beef or pork, same for fish

and chicken. My workouts are mostly aerobic now; bicycling for the summer,

augmented by running/walking (and baling hay!). Canoeing in the fall, and

x-skiing, treadmill or windtrainer in the winter.

I am riding three days of RAGBRAI this year (http://www.ragbrai.org/), also

known as the " Beast that ate it's way across Iowa " . You can eat ANYTHING

(and everything) and not gain weight on this ride!

I reduced fat intake after cholecystectomy (gallbladder removal), and found

it to be almost no change for me.

Before I knew why I was itching, I was trying everything to stop it.

My itching was pretty much always at night. I realized that if I ate

very little food in the evenings for dinner & nothing after 6:00 &

did some cardio exercise before bed, I would itch less. I just

controlled my calorie intake, not necessarily fat (but I probably

was also constricting fat since most things with high fat also have

high calorie).
