Guest guest
Dear By-pass Friends, My long and depressing story of why and how I came to have the MGB reversed was posted (very long) a couple of days ago to onelist under the heading " Dying to be Thin " . For all the gory details on a month by month basis I suggest reading that e-mail first. Basically my body was in starvation mode. I couldn't eat anything because of severe nausea. I became so weak and anemic that my life was in danger. I required a total of 7 units of blood to try to get my blood plasma levels to normal. Even after the reversal (which went smoothly without any complications) it was difficult to eat. Because of some rectal and occult bleeding I underwent an Endoscopy and Biopsy of my stomach and also had an Upper GI with small bowel follow through. The small bowel study showed that I suffer from stomach paresis. That means my stomach tube is basically paralyzed so it doesn't transmit messages telling my food intake to " move on down the line " . We have found a couple of medicines which help improve stomach motility and I am now able to eat almost anything I want as long as I remember my phenergan before hand. If you can't find the original post of " Dying...... " e-maill me and I'll forward a copy to you. Feel free to include any other questions you may have and I'll try to respond to those too.
