Guest guest
lol kathryn dont worry, i do see some doctors down here but only for everyday things. my gastro down here was highly recomended by my hepatologist from omaha, ne. when things arent right i run back to omaha and see dr sorrell who is one of the best. several in the group see him. the ptc i had done was done in omaha. also one of my neighbors is dr walker who was in charge of the liver tranplant program in baylor university prior to his retirement. sometimes when i have a question i hate to bother sorrell with i ask him. besides the rentals i still do consulting work for at & t but usually only do that one or two days a week. i retired 5 years ago but like keeping busy. thanks for the concern hillbillybob psc dx 96, central spinal stenosis dx 03 uc dx 04, ltx 05, steriod induced diabetis 05, enlarged prostate 05, osteoperosis dx 06, sleep apnea dx 06, who knows whats wrong with the liver now 07. --- wrote: > Hillbilly Bob, > > Please , Please DO NOT rely on southern docs to help > you.. ________________________________________________________________________________\ ____ Get the Yahoo! toolbar and be alerted to new email wherever you're surfing. http://new.toolbar.yahoo.com/toolbar/features/mail/index.php

It's a little harsh to lump all southern doctors together and assume they're all bad! I know you've had difficulties with Doctors in Atlanta (btw my Mother in law lives in Atlanta and swears all doctors there are bad too, so maybe there is a problem with the medical system in Atlanta, but even so she's now found a doctor down there who she seems to like fine!) That doesn't mean that all, or even most, southern doctors are bad! I know there's a prejudice among some people that the south is made of of backwards hicks and nothing else, but like most prejudices this is mostly based on ignorance. Most southern hospitals are just as good as their northern counterparts, and many of us (including myself with my recent transplant at Vanderbilt in Nashville, TN) have been successfully treated by southern doctors! I don't want to open up a new war between the states on our support group, but I do want to say that the bottom line in doctor selection has much less to do with where your doctors live than it does with how skilled they are and how well you are able to interact with them. My doctors here in Tennessee score very high in both regards, and I'm sure there are many others in the south who do also. athan
