Guest guest
Ken continues to improve. His bilirubin was....ready for it?...wait for it...1.0 today, yeah, we love normal! His new liver has found a home that it likes. We are so very grateful that a young woman's family in their time of loss and sorrow made the decision to donate The Gift of Life to Ken. We hope they find some comfort in knowing how much this Gift means to us. The doctors are trying to whean Ken off the insulin drip, so he's getting shots in his thigh. He doesn't seem to mind them as much as the finger prick. They have also stopped pulling fluid off of him through kidney dialysis, in the hope he starts making more urine. His thymo yesterday afternoon went really well, fever, but no chills. We're hoping today's dose goes even better. (Warning - brag coming).....during rounds the doctor asks the interns a question or two, if they can't answer it, he always says - you can phone a friend (meaning another intern) yesterday he asked, no answer, so I raised my hand.....he said: 'you can phone a friend or a 'MOM'. So they asked me the question and I got it right! They were all impressed, but the truth is, knowledge is power and this wisdom only comes from PSC Support. So thank you to the group for making me look good. Ken was allowed some ice chips today, so although he is in considerable pain he is happy. Kim is going home today. We'll all miss her bunches and bunches. Barb
