Well the last 17 hours or so have been a whirlwind. I got a call at about 9 last night that my son had been involved in an automobile accident. Not what any mama wants to hear. I finally got him on the phone at around 11 and he said he was ok just bumps and bruises. That didn't really help me as much as it should have and I knew when I got up this morning I needed to see him with my own eyes.

So O2 tanks in the car, concentrator in the car, overnight bag in the car and 2 and a half hours later I got to see for myself that he's ok.

Considering I didn't sleep much last night I've decided to hole up for tonight at the Sleep Inn here in Boone and head home in the morning. I won't be on chat tonight so don't talk too much about me or at least say only good things!

What a scare you must have had!glad to know that you son is not hurt

much.You did right going to see him yourself nothing like mom's love

for him too and reassurance for you.

Thats one of those times you know you're going to go. It's a matter of

whether you immediately jump in the car and go or debate it for a bit

trying to convince yourself he doesn't need you to come when its not

about his need at all, you know you need for you to go. Now I'm sure

deep down he really wanted her to come, but thats hard for an adult boy

to say. He says " mom, I'm fine " when he really means " mom, I'm not hurt

bad but I sure wish you were here. "

Bruce,

That was very well put. Thank you. He would never have asked me to come but he was VERY happy to see me. To see his eyes light up when he saw me made me so happy. We've had many problems and challenges over the years (and still do) but Matt and I are a team and have been since my marriage broke up when he was only 9. I won't say he's my best friend, because he's not. He's my son and I'm very much Mom but we genuinely like each other in addition to loving each other.

There are times when the right thing to do is just go with your gut instinct and go check on the well being of your loved one. This was one of those times!
