Guest guest
Katy, I can understand your frustration. My son who has been diagnosed with PSC, UC and possibly AIH turned 20 in June and will be a junior in the fall. I go crazy with his meds. takes asacol three times a day but I know he skips and usually takes 1-2 times a day. He claims that he takes the ursadiol regularly because it is twice a day and his problem is the asacol. He says he takes his 6MP also . Thats just once a day. I guess I have to be grateful that he doesn't miss a whole day. Still drives me crazy. Supplements are another thing. We've had a multivitamin since last year 2006 in May which should have been finished in three months. We still have about half the bottle. He says the supplements are not that important. I keep an eye on his medicine since he never adheres to my advice that he should get the call in the pharmacy for the new lot a couple of days before he runs out. I worry that when he is away from home, he will forget a lot. We just have to keep on at them even though they get annoyed with us. Guest guest
Rita, I use one of those weekly medicine holders that I fill up once a week. It helps me keep track if I've missed any doses. I normally take pills every 12 hours, but if I miss my normal dose time, I will still take that dose up to six hours late. I also use the alarm feature on my cell phone to remind me when its dose time. My cell phone allows me to set up to three daily times that the phone will alarm (you can set a different ring for alarms). Its much easier to set an alarm on a cell phone (easier than the normal bedroom clock) so I use my cell phone for short timing uses to (ie. when to take the cookies out of the oven) as well as to wake me up in the mornings.
