Jane-Finish the antibiotic!

Jane,

I'm going into full Nurse mode here. FINISH THE LEVAQUIN!! If he prescribed 10 days worth, then take it for 10 days. If it's 7 days worth, take all 7 days of it. I know it's making you feel lousy but when you don't finish it, there can be tiny areas of infection that are left unchecked that come roaring back as soon as you leave off the antibiotic. Different antibiotics, different infections can all require a longer or shorter course of treatment but the bottom line is always. FINISH THE ANTIBIOTIC!!

Wish I could bring you some soup!!

Bruce,

I have been thinking that I would take all ten days of the Levaquin just to make sure I am o,k, The doctor really didn't say.

Hi MB aka Nurse!

I don't know why the local pulmo told me: "I'm giving you ten days worth of levaquin but you may only need 5 days worth of Levaquin" He said he knew I would do the right thing. I promise to take all ten days of Levaquin!

Jane,

Thanks....I agree that's an odd thing for the doctor to say but if he gave you 10 days worth I agree that finishing it is the right thing to do.

Because she's not as good a nurse as MB. The fight doctors and nurses

have every day is getting patients to finish the antibiotics. A huge

percentage of people don't. I think thats why they now use so many

Z-Packs instead of ten day prescriptions thinking with the shorter

duration there's a greater chance of finishing. Now even a complete

round is often not enough. Maybe the nurse in some way was thinking that

because it was following the Z-Pack, but whatever the thought makes no

sense. We must avoid relapses. The relapses are what put us in the

hospital with pneumonia.

bruce and MB are correct.. i ended up losing three months of work

and had to stay home in bed; did not want to go to the hospital.

they continued to refuse an IV antibiotic. so it lasted so much

longe and being more than they thought.. so be careful and complete

all meds. and do alot of resting, fluids and chicken soup.. tell you

i am such a believer in the last. patti
