Guest guest
May hit something I feel so strongly with unimaginable how anyone can cope with this condition without this wonderful support group That is so true so I just tried to imagine had I not found an online support group because I've really had a very good life since diagnosis and on oxygen. I've lived fully and I've traveled and I've made wonderful friends. So, here is my attempt at expressing how much the groups mean by imagining had I not found support online: Would never have imagined any type of decent life with the disease. Probably would have lapsed into deep depression. Would have been angry over the disease and the lack of any support anywhere. Wouldn't have had all the tremendous friends here, people with whom there is such a common bond. Wouldn't have seen the strength, courage and love of so many here. Would have known nothing about oxygen alternatives or what to insist on from suppliers. Would not be equipped to be mobile as I have. Wouldn't have had humidifier even. Wouldn't have traveled at all. Would not have known it was possible nor had what I needed to do so. Woldn't have seen friends in Tulsa or Snyder or Chicago or San or Fort Worth or Arlington. Would not have traveled to NC to see my family. Would have had my VATS with absolutely no idea of what to expect. Wouldn't have known there were Centers of Excellence and wouldn't have gone to one for a second opinion. Wouldn't have taken charge of my medical treatment, have copies of my records or have any idea what was going on. Would not have an oximeter. Would have been on 2 lpm oxygen 24 hours a day, so using it when not needed sitting on sofa, but far worse I'd be walking around the apartment and anytime I got out with saturations below 85% nearly all the time. Would not have requested and gone to rehab. Wouldn't be exercising on treadmill. Wouldn't have turned my apartment into a comfortable home by decorating or adding things figuring whats the sense of it. Would be sitting here right now counting my 3.2 years from diagnosis I read, trying to decide was it from when I was diagnosed or when I should have been so wondering if I had until January 2010 or June 2011. Online support impacts each of us differently. All I know is that my life since diagnosis has been one of the best periods of my life. It's good. I also know that without online support groups, at best it would have been just waiting for death. At worst, it could have been a nightmare. I don't like to think how things might have been, but doing so at this time sure does make me thankful for how they are. >> > > 1) I am thankful for life, Gods word, my family, Air > > andhuggables.> > > Peggy- Florida > > > > > > > > > > > > 2) I am thankful for my angel-husband-caregiver, healing ties > > within my family, for life and breathing. Guest guest
Correction...oxygen deprivation: Dates should read January 2009 or June 2010...... Oh and probably from the low oxygen would be close to kidney failure. > > > > > > > > 1) I am thankful for life, Gods word, my family, Air > > > andhuggables. > > > > Peggy- Florida > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > 2) I am thankful for my angel-husband-caregiver, healing ties > > > within my family, for life and breathing. Guest guest
BRUCE: I was just reading your post about what you would probably be doing and what you probably would be like at this stage you are in now without our support group. Thing is, you have to realize how very much you yourself mean to this group and how much we all love you so much and count on your knowledge and information. You always are very detailed about answering everyones questions and concerns and you have been blessed with the personal talent of communicating to each of us in your own way with each of our individual progress of this dreadful disease. You are to be highly commended for your very very important part this group, and Lord only knows if you were not here with us that WE would not be as well as we are either. Your input is vital. YES, I LOVE YOU THIS DAY. Guest guest
Lou Well, thats something else I would not have. On the occasion I can research or do know something to share, I get so much out of that. I would be sitting at home with no connection and feeling no purpose for being there. We all contribute to each other's lives. Thats what families and friends do. I research, Peggy hugs, Sher mama's, you show strength in adversity. Gwynne was my early role model. I see Vicky and her words and I take comfort in facing that part of the disease. Brett picks on me and I take humor from one with so many reasons not to have it, but a couple of wonderful reasons to have it. I could mention everyone here. I've been fortunate enough to meet several. I intend to meet many more. > > > > > > > > > > > > 1) I am thankful for life, Gods word, my family, Air > > > > andhuggables. > > > > > Peggy- Florida > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > 2) I am thankful for my angel-husband-caregiver, healing ties > > > > within my family, for life and breathing.
