Guest guest
We found out the day Chad was 2 1/2 monthes old around August 1991, Dr.Spacey took us into the nurses little room behind the desk to tell us. I remember being upset and asking for re-tests, asking how this could have happened because I 'did nothing wrong' during pregnancy *before i knew it was genetic* but it was 100% that he had it. I went into his room and just held him and rocked him. Thats all i remember of that day, oh and he got his first tooth that day too! Guest guest
We had just moved to my husband hometown and he had been looking for a job when was hosptialized the first time.(before diagnosis) We were being told that had CF, in our hospital room, when my husband received a job offer via his cell phone! So good news along with the bad. Leigh, mom to 3; youngest, 2yrs; w/cf

Guest guest
I can't remember our exact date but I know it was a bank holiday. Ali has a habit of getting admitted to hospital on a bank holiday (new year day, easter etc!!) - we cried when we were told - fear of the unknown mixed with shock I guess. Then we just took the approach that Alice is special and was given to us to because god knew that we would care for her and love her not matter what else is thrown at us. We're not particularly religious but that helped us alot (and still does!!). Guest guest
I also thought I would never forgive the date, but I do remember where I was standing when I got the news in March (Alec) then April (Adam) in 1997. Our ped dr wanted to tell me, but the cf doc called first. I didn't know what cf was and was very calm during the weekend until Monday. That was our first visit and I cried the whole time. The call for Adam was different. I started crying as soon as I hung up. Today, Alec takes 1 creon 10 with meals only and Adam receives no meds. They do receive 1 or 2 breathing treatments and CPT daily. They are in the 90% percentile for ht and wt for 6 year olds. Actually, Adam is off the chart because he weigh so much. They have been very healthy and I hope it continues for their lifetime. , mom to Adam 6wcf, Alec 6 wcf, Chance 13 w/ocf and Chase 16 w/ocf > > PLEASE do not post religious emails to the list. > > ------------------------------------------- > > The opinions and information exchanged on this list should > IN NO WAY > be construed as medical advice. > > PLEASE CONSULT YOUR PHYSICIAN BEFORE CHANGING ANY MEDICATIONS OR TREATMENTS. > > -------------------------------------------------- > > >
