Guest guest
okay, so here's the deal: i was officially diagnosed with " an aspect of rosacea, " which after some researching, i deducted to mean that i am exhibiting mild symptoms that indicate it would be smart for me to jump on the bandwagon and learn how to manage it, in order to hopefully prevent it becoming full-blown. so of course, i freaked out, obsessed, cried, etc, etc, watched for my triggers...etc. this group has helped me a GREAT deal in coping and gaining perspective. Thank you so much! i'm currently on metro lotion once a day, and Klaron once a day (although i use it intermittenly because it so harsh) and have noticed sign. improvement in the redness and flushing ( they were mild and shortlived to begin with and now have all but faded into the horizon). however, and i could be paranoid (not unlikely)but my skin texture is just going to crap. my pores are now huge, and my skin has a grainy texture to it, that was not there previous to going on the Metrolotion. i know that this is symptomatic of rosaea, but it seems highly unlikely to me that this particular aspect would exponentially increase on its own without any of the other symptoms present. from all other indications, it would appear that i have (for now, and happily) this completely under control. huge pores run in the family (thanks mom!) but is it possible that the metrolotion is causing this? my skin is combination, so finding a good moisturizer is always a chore - but the Cetaphil SPF 15 i'm now using seems to be working fine. i don't know anything about pores, how they are affected by certain chemicals and/or dryness...i was wondering if anyone who does could give me some advice? i'm weary of starting something new, or stopping what i'm on because it does appear to be working quite nicely. however! i am only 22 - and big pores now spell disaster in the future, huh? it also seems to me that pores are something you want to nip in the bud, as the more prnounced they become, they are difficult to reverse. suggestions? comments? criticism? i welcome it all!!!! thanks guys! sandy
Guest guest
Sandy, I don't think the metrolotion would cause a change in your skin's texture. It's great that the flushing/redness is subsiding; however, inflammation in the deeper layers of your skin could cause a rougher skin texture. Unfortunately I speak from experience. I have mild flushing and occasional pinkness/redness with permanenet broken capillaries but over the last 2 and 1/2 years since my diagnosis, my pores have enlarged and the texture of my skin become grainy. I am menopause age and at first I was attributing the changes to that but the texture changes have occurred only in the rosacea areas of my face. I plan to start photoderm to hopefully improve the texture of my skin. Retin A type products also help shrink pores and smooth skin but these products are generally not recommended for rosaceans. Perhaps some of the board members who use these products can respond to you. a question for the group >okay, so here's the deal: > >i was officially diagnosed with " an aspect of rosacea, " which after >some researching, i deducted to mean that i am exhibiting mild >symptoms that indicate it would be smart for me to jump on the >bandwagon and learn how to manage it, in order to hopefully prevent >it becoming full-blown. so of course, i freaked out, obsessed, cried, >etc, etc, watched for my triggers...etc. this group has helped me a >GREAT deal in coping and gaining perspective.
