Guest guest
In the classes i went to they said it is the fat in the chocolate candies that make it metbolize slower. Tuscon Kitty Re: I need some opinions please. , This is what I thought until I bought my wife a large box of Belgian Chocolates from Costco and ate most of them myself. I ate about 6 to 8 pieces spread throughout the day as an experiment. For some odd reason my readings were always low or lower 1 hour later. I reported this to my PCP and he said it was very odd. So I continued doing this daily for about a week and almost never got spikes in my sugars. But if I eat a piece of pizza or some french fries or some bread or too much rice then bingo, up she goes. Someone tried to explain that certain sugars don't really have a bad effect. Well all I know is what I experienced this month and cannot explain why. ly I was shocked. Anyone have any ideas on this? Guest guest
Have you considered a support group of some kind? I read the book from Overeaters Anonymous, is a great read, and there are support groups all over the nation, FREE. They also have mentoring, called sponsors, who work with you. There is also a great Bible study & book called Weigh Down, it talks about the spiritual connection of overeating. I don't know, but if you're like me, you are using food to cope with life. I have 8,6, and 3 yr old girls, and my middle has autism. I turned horribly to food after my middle was dxed. The root of my problem isn't biology, it's mental. Addressing these issues is what is helping me to heal from overeating, the diet and exercise are secondary. I have lost 26 lbs in the last year, mostly from integrating all these aspects of diets/power of mind. For one thing, I focus on this day. I still do some menu planning and such, but when it comes down to it, my prayer from my Father is that He delivers me from this day, because tomorrow has worries of its own. I use an eating guide from www.mypyramid.gov to ballpark what I should eat, shaving off the extra calories & fat, trying to keep my daily intake to 1500. I try to divide my carbs among the day to keep my insulin from shooting too high, causing me lows and making me wanna eat like a pig, lol. I also keep a journal of all my food throughout the day and try to be active for 30 min. If you live near a park you could load up your kids in a stroller and walk as far as you can, trying to increase it a little each week. I take my eldest on her bike and she rides while I walk. It's a great time for both of us. I'm hoping to eventually ride a bike, but the seats hurt my bum too much, seems child birth made it worse. But as far as motivating you, that can only come from you. No one else can force you to take care of yourself. No one can force me, it's a daily decision I make. Some days I choose to live healthy and some days I choose to harm my body. Each day is a choice and because you've made bad ones in the past doesn't mean tomorrow can't be different. said one thing he does is forgetting about the past and looking toward the future of The Glorious Prize. Guest guest
Do you have a freecycle group in your area? You can do a search for freecyle plus your home town on Yahoo groups. You might be able to post a request for a bicycle or treadmill and find one that way. I gave away a manual treadmill on ours several months ago when I upgraded to a electric one. Guest guest
I have another opinions request. I haven't been eating a lot and my carb count is lower than what I was told it should be most of the time. This week I've been working on my feet all day, so doing a lot of walking. The company has been supplying lunch, so I have more carbs at lunch time (30-45g), but am so worn out by the end of the day I have very little for dinner. But I am now gaining weight instead of losing it. What can I do to reverse that? I am probably getting 2 miles of walking in during the day. Guest guest
I cannot afford a bike. Also I seen a sticker on my glucophage bottle that says I need to carry a card or wear a bracelet that says I take this medicine. What should I do? Guest guest
You can get a used bike from Goodwill or Salvation Army for a very low price. I've seen them as low as $25.00. If you want a new one, K-mart has bikes for less than $100.00. There are certain medications that shouldn't be taken with glucophage. Also, until you adjust to things, you might get unpredictable lows. I'd suggest http://www.medicalert.org/home/homegradient.aspx Re: I need some opinions please. I cannot afford a bike. Guest guest
Also, my church has a " Spokes for Folks " program that collects and refurbishes bicycles and distributes them to low income people for transporation. There may be a similar program in your area. Re: Re: I need some opinions please. On Thu, 29 Dec 2005 14:54:53 -0000 " aliciaj04 " writes: > I cannot afford a bike.
