Guest guest
If you're having difficulties doing the stretches at home and you can afford to increase your PT appointments to once a week then I'd say go ahead and do it. It's only going to get more and more difficult to stretch him as he gets bigger and the PTs are professionals who know what they're doing. I know exactly what you mean-- it always looks easy when the PT is showing you the stretches, but as soon as you get home and try it yourself it's much harder! Monday DJ and I went to the physical therapist for his tort. She gave us some stretching exercises that seemed relatively straightforward when she did them. I tried them today without much success. DJ wiggled so much that I feared I would hurt him if I really tried to push his chin in the opposite direction. He is VERY strong. I cannot see how this is going to work for us. We're scheduled to visit PT every other week, but now I'm thinking we should go at least weekly if we're not getting good stretching at home.Any ideas??, Mom to DJ (1/12/06), to be DOCbanded 7/31 Express yourself instantly with Windows Live Messenger! Guest guest
Our therapist leant us a wedge pillow that has a groove in the middle - so we lay Lenka in it and hold her head off the high end to do the stretches. It allows us to move her more fully than just pressing against a surface. Not sure if I explained it right, but what is you used 2 bed pillows on top of each other and put him in the middle on top with his head off? He probably wiggles more than she does, but its a thought.
