Guest guest
Hello Eryn Welcome to the group. I think that a lot of facial and ear asymmetry gets corrected with the band, but it is the hardest to correct and the last to correct. My daughter had facial asymmetry and it got much much better. Her ears however are still way off. One is higher than the other so if she ever needs glasses we will have to custom order them. I'm not really sure what to tell you about the jaw. That is something that you might have to wait out. I know that is not the answer you want, but maybe someone that has been there can give you a better answer. Me, personally I have not heard from the companies you have described. When you talk to them on the phone ask them how many bands they have done so far. Experience is the key. Also you can go to cranial tech online and see where the next location is nearest you. They do bands only so they have much more experience than others. Let us know who you will go to. Guest guest
I haven't had any experience with O & P, but I do know that they started offering the Starband about 2 years ago, right about the time Connor got his helmet from PPO. Their helmet is a passive helmet, while the Starband is active. I think there has been one person on here that has used O & P, but I don't know if she still checks the board. As for the jaw, Dr. Carstens told us the same thing. Is he having a CT scan done? If not, he may be waiting until she's a little older. Connor had his at 1 year. In our case, Connor's jaw turned out to be mild enough not to require surgery. I hope it turns out that way for you too! I believe the jaw surgery involves cutting the lower jaw bone and separating it slightly so the the bone fills in and lengthens the jaw bone. Guest guest
Eryn - My son wears the StarBand from Orthotics and Prostethics Lab, INc in Children's Hsptl. He has been in it almost 2 months and after the first month we saw tremendous correction, now it seems to have slowed since that visit. We go in againin a week. Anyway, I have had a good exp with them thus far. They have always returned phone calls i a timely manner, etc. What else can I tell you?
