Hi Amy,

Welcome to the group. Check out the Olderplag group:

OlderPlag/

We do have members who are currently aggressively repositioning their

babies.

Is there any reason your not treating your baby's plagio?

How's the PT going for the torticollis?

My son is having cranial sacral therapy to correct his flatness, it is

working! I wish more people knew about this and didn't have to go

through the banding or helmets.

Hi Amy. I did have success with repositioning rather than getting a

band for my dd. Although, I still would not call that " not treating "

her plagio. It is just a different type of plagio. When you say your

child has mild plagio, how mild would you say? You can look at my

dd's pictures in the Photos section under Before and After

Repositioned. Her pics are listed under S. How would you say

your child's head compares to my dd's? Just curious. At 11 months,

your child is pretty much too old to see any significant change from

repositioning, especially since a child that age is up off of he head

most of the time anyway.

Anyway, welcome and please ask anything you need to.

Amy,

My daughter Finley was diagnosed with mild Plagio and we have been

doing aggressive repo for about a month now. We have seen amazing

results. But it isn't easy. You have to do it 24/7 and she is a big

baby so we had a hard time at night getting her to sleep on her side.

She didn't have tort so Im not sure how to repo with tort. But she

will be 6 months on the 10th of May and we have given ourselves a

deadline until then to evaluate her again. Go with your gut and at

least make an appt. with cranial tech or with your local orthotist.

They will let you know their oppinion and what your options are.

Good luck,

Hello Amy

Welcome to the group.

Repo is another way that you can treat plagio, but in your son's age

it is to late for repo.

Hi there Amy, My daughter Sydney has been diagnosed with mild plagio and I've been lingering here on the message board for the past couple of months while waiting to go to our follow-up appointment (two months later) with the cranio facial specialist. We've noticed the flattening and asymmetry since Syd was about five months old and have done repo. She does not have tort. We are in a rural area of TN and have seen her Ped, a neurosurgeon and plastic surgeon in Nashville, and an orthotist in Louisville (a three and a half hour drive away). We are going on Monday to see if the plastic surgeon sees any changes or will possibly think that she is in need of a band. I'm still really struggling with it. The Ped, neuro and plastic surgeon all seem to think I'm crazy. The orthotist, however, does see what I'm talking about, but feels that it's very mild and doesn't necessarily merit a band or helmet.

He is also willing to see her for some additional measurements in a few weeks to note any changes. If the plastic surgeon won't band her, the ortho would be our only course of treatment and he is so very far away. I feel it would be extremely difficult given the fact that she would need regular adjustments, etc. I only want to make the best decision for our little girl, but still feel that others are fighting me on it. I definitely agree that you should go ahead and get your child's head further evaluated, though they may or may not be as helpful as one would hope depending on who you talk to. I really appreciated the opinion of the orthotist above everyone else's as he makes a living off the orthotics and was still not eager to band her. He was the only one too that would actually do a measurement, as opposed to just looking at her head. Part of me feels that if he

felt it was really merited, than he would suggest it. Still, it is the parent's decision to make. All the best, (mother to Sydney, eight months, flattening and asymmetry) ruthbonds <ruthbonds@...> wrote: Amy,My daughter Finley was diagnosed with mild Plagio and we have been doing aggressive repo for about a month now.
