Guest guest
Molly, I just made an apt. to see a cranial sacral therapist in 2 weeks. I am hoping it will help resolve some of my son's facial asymmetry. His plagio is behind his right ear and mild - moderate. He has already been treated by a wonderful physical therapist for his neck muscle issues and now has full range of motion on his own. We are continuing stretches (not fun) at home. My son is 9 months old and has been banded now for 8 weeks. Does your child have facial asymmetry? What do you know about CST? Donna
Guest guest
Molly, I'd be interested in seeing any medical studies she can provide proving the therapy she provides is better than or just as effective as banding. I think you picked a osteopath who isn't educated about plagio. > > How has everyone's experience been with treating torticollis and/or plagio > with an Osteopath? Guest guest
We had a cranial sacral therapist and she didn't really like us using the band. She said that she would still treat him though. I think that she thought that he would still get benifit for things other than just his plagio. I would choose the band over the osteopath anyday. Guest guest
My daughter gets CST at Kennedy Krieger in Baltimore, MD. The band is taken off for the treatment session. Kennedy Krieger is totally band/helmet-friendly. They feel the two methods of treatment can work together. They have some plagio/brachy cases who haven't been banded and others who continue treatment after banding. My daughter falls in the latter category. We'll have our first post-banding session next week. Unfortunately, I haven't found any research out there supporting CST's value for plagio/brachy. I'd like to see more rounding of my daughter's head so I'm going to continue it for a while. Hope you can find an osteopath who doesn't give you an all-or-nothing scenario. Good luck. ~ Liliana 19 months, DOCGrad 3/26 > > How has everyone's experience been with treating torticollis and/or plagio > with an Osteopath? Guest guest
Hi Molly We had CST done for my duaghter's tort, and had her banded. Our therapist did not " like " or " believe " in the band, but he said that it was our decision. CST did wonders for her tort, but nothing for her plagio Sandy Willow's Mom > > How has everyone's experience been with treating torticollis and/or plagio > with an Osteopath? Guest guest
> We are currently doing both as well. Logan has a helmet and takes it off for his sessions - he sees an osteopath that does cranial sacral therapy. I would think an osteo should resepct your choice to band or not band your son and giving an unlimatum seems very unprofessional to me as well as disrespectful. We have seen progress with our sons head for sure and he has just been 1.5months with everything...........We will really never know when or who did the most for him but osteopathy and cST for general health is great as well so no harm as far as i am concerned........good luck logans mom How has everyone's experience been with treating torticollis and/or plagio > with an Osteopath?
