Guest guest
I'm in California and have been in the Early Intervention Program since was 5 months of age. She is now in the Preschool based program called Early Start. I contacted them on my own through the Regional Program in my county. They did the same thing with 's file, stated her developmental delays instead of focusing on her tort and plagio. She had a delay of 3 to 6 months depending on the milestone. We didn't qualify for the main program but were referred to the school district who covered the cost of all her therapies and then accepted her into the special program they have for preschoolers. I have never had to pay for preschool tuition nor any of her therapies (OT and PT twice a week). She is still in the program and during our last meeting they told me she would be in the program for at least another year. If you have any specific questions feel free to ask. , Mama to... I am so frustrated with Kaiser and the lack of care that I contacted Early Start/Intervention here in California. I was told that they don't help babies w/ Tort - so the lady was going to put my dd's application before the committee as "Developmental delay" - which I think on a gross motor scale she is because of the tort - but she is not delayed in the fine motor skills. Anyway they are now requesting her birth/ hospital discharge records to get a better picture of what is going on with my dd. What are anyone else's experiences w/ their states early intervention program??? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!! As a side note, they thought it was quite interesting that I contacted them. It sounded like they only get referrals from drs. Though the whole add campaign is all about "anyone can refer, drs, nurses, parents, caregivers, etc" weird! Jen Mommy to 4...and 1 more!!!! Guest guest
Hi! I also tried to got through early intervention, I'm in New York. My Insurance Company, Vytra, only wanted to cover 2 months of PT so I thought I would try early intervention. My first daughter used services with them...But low and behold I was told that Tort was not valid so my son was evaluated for developmental delay also. A Physical Therapist and a Developmental Specialist looked at him but concluded that he did not meet the criteria...So we were denied. I had to pay to continue PT and now had to pay for his helmet for the plagiocephaly... I'm not sure if I helped you at all but that was my experience here.
