Hi everyone,

I wanted to let you all know that I finally said NO to my nada! OR, more

specifically, I said You are NOT welcome at my wedding!!!She sent a really

horrible text message to my fiance and that was that. After 6 months of torture

surrounding this wedding, it took her attacking the person that I love to help

me to realize what I had to do.

I could not have done it without all of your support so thank you from the

bottom of my heart. The compassion and occassional wake up calls have been

invaluable in getting me to this place where I could stand up for myself and my

new family. And, Doug, if you happen to read this, thank you for the " flagpole

story! " I finally said, " Screw you! " I won't be jumping off any flag poles

today!!!

Not easy to do at all. Say NO to nada. (Would make a nice KO t-shirt...hmmm.)

Isn't it enlightening when necessity gets us to try new approaches?

As my sister program (Al-anon, for family members of drunks and other

dysfunctional emotionaloholics) says,

" No is a complete sentence. "

I ended up telling my nada my version of " No, you will not spoil my wedding. "

Because I did not say " no " that easily. (I had a hard time feeling OK about

saying no to wearing her wedding dress. But I did tell her it wouldn't fit!)

My mom threatened to not come to our wedding, if I did not do things her way. I

wasn't going to play that game. So I said, " Mom, it will be your decision. I

will not make you attend. It is my day and I get to have this the way I need it

to be. "

And so you will have YOUR day the way YOU need it to be.

Amen~
