Guest guest
I was worried about last Satuday--my DD graduated from college. We arranged to have breakfast with her alone (our time) and then planned to welcome the extended family at dinner after the ceremony. Nada & fada had reserved seating in the 'special needs' section due to her cane use--so I felt no obligation to greet them personally. Dinner was another game of " nothing wrong in our family, " " so nice to see you, too bad we had no time to talk " Blah, blah BS. It's tiring and I just wanted to support my daughter and to hell with my parents. For Mother's Day, I sent her a card and that's the extent of my involvement. You'd all be proud of me, I found the perfect card! It's a musical card, predominantly purple, and plays Somewhere Over the Rainbow sung by Israel Kamakawiwo'ole. I would love to receive that card, I've loved that song my whole life and especially Iz's cover, my fav color is purple, and the reference to Oz was something that clinched the deal. My mother will not appreciate the card, she will look for a hidden insult but not get it, she will perhaps understand why I chose purple. Maybe. But who cares? Not me! The card made ME happy.
