Guest guest
This book looks very interesting - but anyone who has read it, can you tell me if it goes into any mystical eastern stuff or anything spiritistic? I really need to learn this technique but am not comfortable with stuff that goes outside to what I tend to regard as the tenants of the bible - or " bible based " stuff. Thanks! I am learning this relaxation method right now to help my pelvic floor dysfunction. it was developed to help people with lots of muscle related stress issues. >Meikjn > > >> >>

Guest guest
I haven't read it, but bringing my librarian skills into play, it doesn't look like it has any spiritual stuff in it at all, but is all instead approached from a psychotherapy angle. Usually if there's mystical/spiritual stuff in there, the reviewers say so. Usually in the reviews if there's any of that in there, someone is praising it because of the mystical aspect, or someone is writing to warn others about the non-bible based stuff. From the description of the book: " The strength of the method of Paradoxical Relaxation is that it addresses the microphysical and psychological events that are obstacles to profound relaxation, especially for individuals who experience anxiety and physical distress. " Perhaps you can borrow the book through Interlibrary Loan if you want to make sure it doesn't go against your beliefs. Or you can look up which libraries nearby have the book--sometimes you can go to a nearby public library and just read it in the library, too. Here's a website for that: http://www.worldcat.org/ I can't say with absolute certainty the author doesn't include anything that's not Bible-based, though, so definitely consider borrowing it before buying. Hopefully someone else who has read it can give you a more definitive answer!
