Guest guest
*I sent this out last night, but I was trying to reply via my phone and I'm not sure if it went just to this poster or didn't go through at all. Anyway, I wanted to repost in case anyone found this helpful.* I would suggest Get Out of Your Mind and Into Your Life by . It's not Bible based, more psycology based, but it's not Eastern either. It's just good, solid ways to use mindfulness and acceptance therapy to help change destructive thought patterns. Although it's not specifically for relaxation, it has a lot of good relaxation exercises in it. Other problem-specific books using this same therapy as a base are the Mindfulness & Acceptance Workbook for Anxiety and the Mindfulness & Acceptance Workbook for Depression. Take a look at those and see if you think any of them will help. I also had a friend tell me about a website that offers ideas for living better. It's set up in a sort of game format, so you have quests and allies and power ups. There are a bunch of different quests you can choose--lower stress, eat better, be more social, exercise, learn to meditate, sleep better, etc. You can even create one all of your own. The website is www.superbetter.com. For me, taking the time to check in every day and think through the choices I've made and the bad guys I've struggled with has helped me see that I'm growing and learning better coping skills. I highly recommend it. I'm so sorry about your digestion fubar! I hope that you find the help and healing you deserve! > >> > >> >
Guest guest
Crochetgurl (both messages came through, BTW) et al; Thanks for the info. Funny thing, just thinking about the accepting method concerning anxiety helped me relax. So instead of trying to push it away, I just called it what it was. So it's all good. Guest guest
Thanks, Meikjn, I've ordered the book. I be sure to do a review too. I think I am sleeping better just knowing it exists, though my stomach hasn't quite followed through. Flowers Re: Digestion FUBAR again! Relaxation Book Info Needed > >I use this book. it is not new age or mystical it is medical, and psychological. it is based on a method by an author who was somewhat against things like that. The book explains that. There has been a lot of medical research that has gone into it's development. it specifically addresses muscle tension. It was developed by a PHD in psychology who has the same medical condition as me. > >it has a lot of practical advice in the second half of the book that has been very helpful to me. > >the first half is a bit hard to get through. but it all comes together. > >my therapist has done the tapping with me and I now use tapping to help me get started. > >this method takes a while to learn, but the author is honest about what you can expect, and I found that refreshing. > >I too am religious and not into anything very new-age, or eastern. this in no way interferes with my faith, and I have found it adds a great perspective to accepting life as it is. > > >Meikjn > > >> > >> >> > >> >> > >> > > > > >------------------------------------ > > **This group is based on principles in Randi Kreger's new book The Essential Family Guide to Borderline Personality Disorder: New Tips and Tools to Stop Walking on Eggshells, available at www.BPDCentral.com.** Problems?
