Hi ;

Where do you tap? I've heard about it and read some things but they always

wanted money for the " complete " book or video. I have noticed that sometimes I

tap just below my nose or just above my chin without realizing it.

>>Hi,

>I haven't ever heard anyone talk about this technique. My therapist taught it

to me when I was unable to cope any longer w my BP mother. I didn't at that time

realize my mother was BP, I was in such a cycle of chaos I couldn't make heads

of tails of anything. She taught this to me and it works so well. I wasn't able

to release the walking on eggshell feeling, knots in my stomach, and pissy-ness.

It was taking all my energy just to function that I wasn't being the best mom I

could be to my toddlers (I'm an at home mom) and I needed a way to release this

pent up anxiety/hostility/screaming inside. I am usually very good about being

able to see bs for bs and putting it aside. But I was to a point that I just

couldn't move on in my day and it would continue into the next day. (nightmares

in between) It was like I was so stimulated inside that I couldn't find peace.

>Any how, tapping is totally easy to do. I can even do it in the car after she

calls. I think for me the direct stimulation (tapping at nerve bundles) along

with naming my feeling (validating my feelings to myself) is enough to 'reset'

me. It usually takes me about three cycles (tapping hard) to dissipate my

feelings of turmoil and I am settled again. This as been the only coping

technique that make me feel like I have some control over my own feelings

immediately after the hurricane has passed.

Actually, just stay with the free stuff (and diagrams) you can find online, as

it is something you cannot do " wrong " or " incorrectly " even though different

practitioners tap some places and not others.

Tapping merely releases (unblocks) the flow of energy (chi, prana) going

through energy meridians corresponding to acupuncture (or acupressure) points.

Opening up this flow releases the trapped feeling or emotion associated with a

memory or pain sensation even elsewhere in the body.

So, I'll use the analogy of squeezing a dab of toothpaste from a brand new

full tube of toothpaste: if really doesn't matter whether you squeeze it from

the middle, bottom or near the top of the toothpaste as you're still releasing

the flow of toothpaste and you end up with the squeezed out dab of dentifrice

you desire.

Where does one tap? Any public or private place you like. For discreet

tapping, try tapping or squeezing lightly on the nearer side of the fingers

adjacent to the fingernail bed. You can also just pat your palm against the

collarbone area when in the car or elsewhere. The idea is to just unblock the

flow.

If by " where do you tap? " you meant " at which locations on the body? " , as in

my toothpaste analogy you just can't do it wrong. So try any or all of the

following: start with taps on a karate chop point on the heel of the hand and

then do a circuit of: above-the-eyebrow, side of the eye, under-the-eye, under

the nose, below-the-mouth-and-above-the-chin, collarbone, under-the-arm at the

bra strap-area, top-of-the-head and back around to the above-the-eyebrow, etc.

If you think this is all potentially " confusing " , then FasterEFT is easy.

" FasterEFT " folks just say tap on three places: above-the-eyebrow, under the

eye, collarbone and back again.....

May I add the TAT technique if held for a few minutes at a time supposedly

does wonders for PTSD. See

It's all just toothpaste out of the same tube!
