Guest guest
After the discussion of PD characters in film, now I can't help but notice BPD/NPD characters in movies! Arghhh. So, I recently watched a great movie -- lots of melodrama (mmmmmm?) and great filmmaking -- for probably the 20th time. But -- to me anyway -- a very obvious BPD character popped right out (one minor clue -- could she be *your* nada???), and another character that seemed rather NPD. So -- the film is the Cecil B. DeMille " The Ten Commandments " with Charlton Heston. Can you guess which characters popped out to me? (If we can't laugh now and again, we'd be too tempted to cry over all of this!) --Dana
Guest guest
I don't know the movie as it has been like 100 years since I have seen it.. But. In the same spirit - - TV TOO!! American Chopper - SR is soooooo BPD Everybody loves - 's Mother. Bet I can come up with more if I think about it. Too bad they cant do a quick PSA at the end of these shows and make them it little educational too. Guest guest
's Mother is MY NADA. the " supportive " jabs at what she thinks are others shortcomings, the winy " I guess no one wants me around " crap. . . that show is hilarious. but sometimes it is a little too close for comfort. DH used to tell me all the time that she was just like her. I used to defend her and agree at the same time. I am happy to see the light. some period drama ones that come to mind wives and daughters : hyacinth (aka step mother from HELL) north and south: hero's mom in this one she controls him more than is healthy.a bit milder. These movies are based on books by the same author. I think she must have known a BP at some time or another... Guest guest
One of my favorite all-time sitcoms is " I Love Lucy " and my 7 year old loves her now, too. BUT in watching it now over and over and over, I'm seeing how Lucy's character absolutely has some kind of PD or BPD: the insistence at being the center of attention, the manipulative behavior, the removal of love when Ricky (or anyone else) doesn't give her what she wants, the jealousy at anyone else's progress or success... It pained me to admit it to myself, that Lucy is mentally ill!! > > Nothing is popping out to me right now either, but I am curious who > you thought of! My husband loves that movie. Me, not as much lol. > > But another character that always stood out as PD'd from a TV show was > the mom from Malcom in the Middle. > > I agree with the mom from Everybody Loves .
