Guest guest
my 8 month old daughter has been wearing the doc band for 2 months and will be " graduating " next month. she had " moderate " plagio from torticollis and facial asymmetry. while she her head shape has improved i'm a little disappointed that her face is still asymmetric (fuller cheek on right side, smaller eye on left side). i'm not so optimisitic that it will improve in the next four week and our CT " practitioner " couldn't say for sure that it would correct. can/does the facial asymmetry correct after the band comes off? did i have unrealistic expectations that the band would correct her facial asymmetry? --julie
Guest guest
simon has the same thing and he has graduated they said that its still from the tort and it will improve over time just to keep doing the streches, guess we will see right now its just nice not having to go to appointments and not dealing with the band. Guest guest
Facial asymmetry takes longer to correct than flattening. It depends on the severity, though, whether it will become unnoticeable after one band. The ears take the longest to correct as they're the most difficult to correct. The problem is that no one can predict how much your daughter's head will grow and whether it will be sufficient to rid the facial asymmetry. For us, we wanted our son to pass an elevator test and to not need any specialized glasses or headwear. My son Malcolm's facial asymmetry improved after wearing two Doc Bands over 6.5 months, but there is still some remaining facial asymmetry - ears and prominent right cheek - which untrained eyes likely won't notice (our goal). We knew however that it was unlikely that we would totally eliminate the facial asymmetry with the two Doc Bands because Malcolm was born with severe plagio - his plagio is now mild. I would add, though, that improvements with facial asymmetry can be very subtle. I didn't think we'd get as much correction with Malcolm's facial asymmetry over the last band, but we did. You might want to ask CT what you should expect over the next four weeks. Try to squeeze as much correction as you possibly can. Guest guest
- We have Hanger but are in the same boat. We have opted to go for the 2nd band in hopes that it will help w/ the asym.
