Guest guest
Sorry I did not update sooner. Life has been crazy and hectic along with being very painful. Here is the scoop: Thursday afternoon we came home after being out in town for appointments and stuff. In the mail was a rather large first class mail envelope addressed to me. I open it up to find a letter from my insurance company telling me that they have denied my surgery because they feel that it is not medically neccessary. I was extremely mad cuz my surgery was scheduled for the following monday (today). It took them almost 2 weeks to send me a letter telling me they were denying it. My insurance tells me that if I choose to go ahead with the surgery we will be stuck with the bill cuz they are not gonna cover it. Talk about a slap in the face and yet more stress added onto my already stressed out pain ridden body. Thankfully about 10 minutes after I opened the letter and read it I got a call from my neurosurgeons office who informs me that they got the same letter and in years of them dealing with this insurance company its a first denial they have ever seen. The nurse tells me that the doctor says we will fight it. So my surgery that was scheduled for today has been cancelled and I have a new appointment for tuesdday (tomorrow) to start the appeals process. According to the letter from my insurance we have 30 days to appeal it. I am hoping it is a quick process. My doctor is completely behind me and agrees completely with my reasonings for having this surgery now. Now if we can just convince the insurance company everything will be cool. When I see my neurosurgeon on tuesday I am gonna talk to him about getting another MRI on my back. My left leg pain has greatly increased as well as now I am experiencing discomfort and tingling in my left arm as well. Also started having pain on my left side a couple of days ago. I have had so many issues walking lately that everytime we go somewhere like walmart or the mall I have to sit in a wheel chair cuz I can't hardly walk. Im extra stressed now with the appeal process and everything being completely up in the air now. We were all prepared for the surgery and had finally reached that acceptance point with the future and stuff. I am extremely mad at my insurance company and have just been too busy lately to even have a chance to deal with it. My son was here for 2 weeks to visit and we had a very hectic and crazy 2 weeks between car problems that ended costing us a fortune to trying to do fun things with our son and me trying to live a normal active life with my pain. Not an easy thing to do. I have been racked with even more pain now that he has left and we finally have no company in our house and I can actually try and rest and relax. I apologize greatly for not updating everyone sooner. I will keep everyone posted on whats going on. I will definately post after tuesdays meeting with the neurosurgeon. Thanks for all your support and thoughts an prayers. in Utah
