FROM WIKIPEDIA

Levator Ani Syndrome

Levator Ani Syndrome is caused by chronic tension of the levator muscle. Proctalgia fugax is caused by rectal muscle spasm. Proctalgia fugax and levator ani syndrome have not been found to be of psychosomatic origin, although stressful events may trigger attacks.Get a sneak peek of the all-new AOL.com.

The PT is not a doctor Carol so she can't really make a

determination about what is causing your pain.

Also, just because she touched your pudenal nerve and it wasn't

hurting doesn't mean that you don't have a nerve problem. There

are other nerves to the vulvar area that can cause a lot of

problems. I have nerve problems and it is not related to the

pudenal nerve. Not all nerve problems to the vulvar area are

related to the pudenal nerve.

The spasming is a symptom. Levator Ani syndrome is just a group

of symptoms which means that something else like IC for example

is causing it.

The PT is just a band aid as well as the Neurontin but just like

some have good success with PT some have excellent results with

Neurontin, Elavil and Pamelor (these two are the ones designed

more to work with nerve issues than Cymbalta).

Vulvodynia and vestibulodynia are just symptoms as well. They

indicate that something more is going on which is why a cause

must be found first.

The doctor that tried to tell me that I had muscle spasms in

that area was a urogyn but as I said I knew she was wrong in my

case.

The first thing you need to do is find the cause of the problem

then you can start focusing on the fix to the problem.

Kristy :)
