Guest guest
Hi, all, When you just get your uterus removed, do they still want to put you on HRT? Does it change a lot of things in your body? Do you still ovulate even though you don't have a period? Thanks, Becky Ready for the edge of your seat? Check out tonight's top picks on Yahoo! TV. Guest guest
Becky, As long as they leave your ovaries you generally don't need HRT for awhile. I have heard that eventually your ovaries stop putting out hormones as they are no longer connected to a blood supply (the uterus), but it will be a year next week and I feel great! I have lost weight (no BC), I don't feel like crap for two weeks each month and I don't have to worry about getting pregnant ever again. If you still ovulate the egg will just be absorbed by the body. There is no way for sperm to get to it. I know my body is still having cycles as I still experience breast tenderness for a few days each month but that is the extent of it for me. My abdomen still isn't as strong as it was before the surgery (they cut through the muscles to get to the uterus), but I don't have any pain per say. Annie, I always thought that if I had a hysterectomy I'd probably need my ovaries removed due to the Endo pain. But the Endo pain is gone now thank the Lord...my main problem is my uterus retroverting severely again...and like I said, I just don't know if at this point if it would be worth it to have another suspension surgery. Honestly, the way mine was done (they have better procedures now) I don't even know if it's an option (but I'm so glad I had it). What I do know is that I've had sitting pain for a year now...and I KNOW it's my uterus pressing on a nerve or something. >>>>>>>If you can have it done vaginally your recovery will be much easier (the sisters at hystersisters are usually back to work in about two weeks as opposed to 6-8 weeks). A friend of mine had hers vaginally and she developed terrible scar tissue. She had to use dilators for months before she could have sex again, so that scares me. I've had two laps so far and right now I feel more comfortable with the thoughts of abdominal surgery...though I don't want to have another surgery period...but I keep thinking what IF this could help me in more ways then one. I can tell my uterus is bothering my bladder. It's also bothering my bowels. Funny how they make it sound like retroversion is asymptomatic...sure has been symptomatic for me! By the way, what kind of vulvar pain do you have? Please tell me it started before the surgery? *nervous grin* Thanks for your help....~Chelle P.S. I'll probably be in touch when I make a decision for sure!
