Guest guest
Hi,I have had 2 blood food allergy test and one pin prick test. They all gave me different results. I think you need to keep a food diary and figure things out for yourself.I do not find these test to be very reliable. But watching your symptoms after eating certain foods can help.Get a sneak peek of the all-new AOL.com.
Guest guest
Food allergy blood test results--questions > > Hi julie, Years ago I went to an Environmental Allergist and went on an elimination diet. I was allergic to milk, wheat, soy mainly. The thing is my allergy to milk caused light sensitivity (brain), allergy to wheat caused (now I can't remember) and soy caused me to feel tired and dreadful. I noticed my symptoms appeared after five days of elimination and then yareintroducing the next day. Since then I can tolerate them more except soy which I still mainly elminate when possible. When I had skin tests, they detected NOTHING but cats do I discount skin tests as being that reliable. When I had the blood tests, they showed allergies to almost everything, so that did not help. Bottom line is that each thing can show up as a completely different symptom so interpreting an elimination diet is important. I think there are Environmental Allergists all over the U.S. so maybe you could consider that. I have been considering that v people are highly allergic and working on this would be helpful. Guest guest
Me too. I used to just get hives. But in the last 15 years and get diarheaa and throw up at the same time!!! Always at the same time. Someone told me food allergies get worse with age. Don't know if it's really true, but it is in my case. So I don't eat shellfish anymore. Guest guest
I personally am skeptical of IgG testing. I had it done years ago with a holistic MD and was told I was allergic to wheat, yeast, and corn. I eliminated all three and lost 20 pounds I could ill afford to lose. I saw absolutely no improvement in my pain. Later, I had NAET allergy testing and was told I was not allergic to any of the above, my only problem was with mineral absorption. An acupuncturist told me I should do the GI (glucose index) diet because he thought I had a blood sugar problem. I asked if I could be tested before dramatically changing my diet AGAIN and he said there's no test. It's really frustrating that there seems to be so little agreement in this area. Lia > > > > when you had the enterolab test done they were testing for IgA allergies. The delayed food allergy test tested for IgG allergies. The skin test tested for IgE allergies. Hopefully that answers your question. If you have any kind of allergy, you should eliminate it from your diet. If you want more info on the different types, google the different letters. > For example, I have IgG(delayed) to a ton of foods, as well as tested IgA+ with enterolab for gluten and have IgE(immediate) to shellfish. I however dont have IgG to shellfish since I have the IgE. HTH > Kimmi > > > --------------------------------- > Need a vacation? Get great deals to amazing places on Yahoo! Guest guest
Arline, I think you misunderstood me. I never had IgA testing. As far as seeing a gastro re: an autoimmune problem, what test would that be? Having eliminated gluten for months with no improvement in pain or headaches, I don't really think that's an issue for me. Lia > > > I personally am skeptical of IgG testing.
