Guest guest
Hi there I,m new to this site and hope that someone may be able to help me , as I,m really pretty much at the end of my tether. Basically my problems started about 7 years ago with a horrendous Vaginal strep infection (out of nowhere!) the infection was not picked up for a few days by the docs and I thought I had vaginal thrush so treated myself with Diflucan , I ended up with sores like Sunburn on my vulva and for the next few weeks had a purulent bright yellow (stained underwear) discharge. Was in agony and it even burned the skin on the inside of my thighs! Once I got the right treatment with penicllin and metronidazole it cleared up,.... or so I thought at the time,.. about 5 years ago I had another infection (not sure what kind ) just got the medicine, and ever since then I have been plagued with watery discharge most days, that end up swelling my labia, vulva, etc..every time I go to the docs and they take swab after swab they always come back negative (but with pus cells) which I think means inflammation. anyway have been treated 2 years ago with diothermy (not sure of spelling) for a cervical erosion , which is bound to be with all the discharges. The only thing that seems to help me is Diflucan (was at the gyno last week and they have told me to take Diflucan 1 per month for 6 months) . ahem... did,nt even take a swab. just had a look and said " you have thrush)so came out burst into tears and went home. I am also seeing a physio from this week for Bio Feedback who tells me i,m on level 6 and have to get to level 14! Am also on a no sugar, no bread, no wheat, no yeast. No alcohol , no enjoyment diet. Only 2 peices of fruit, water, veg, protein etc for the 6 weeks and am taking a product called Molkosan and echinacea, and am going to try threelac for a few weeks to see if there is Candida as I also have lots of other symptoms fatigue etc. The main problem is my sex life with my husband (or lack of it !) we have 3 kids, god knows how I managed to get pregnant with the 3rd one. I feel sorry for him , I cant let him near me any more, i,m becomming terrified of having sex as its so sore, and the next day I,m like Wayne on his horse! end up having to put steroid canesten cream on for days, what am I doing wrong!.what else can I do. please advise what you think this might be. thanks so much Diane x

I have been there and back. I think you need to find yourself a vulvar specialist, which is someone who knows more than the normal OBGYN. In the meantime, over the counter products such as cortaide, etc. can be applied to the labia and bring the swelling down. Also, salt bath soaks may help as well. Something is definetely going on in there. Are you postmeno or perimeno? The drop in hormones can cause all sorts of problems. Are you red or haveing any blisters along with the swelling? It could be herpes, but I think you need to find a vulvar doctor. My story was the same, pain and swelling for years and all the docs saying they couldn't find anything and all the swabs came out clear. I was finally told it was all in my head! I went on until about 5 years ago when I found a vulvar specialist and she found out what I had. It is a skin disease called Lichen Planus and it is not curable but treatable. I have now been on steroid oinments to control the episodes and my life is much more normal. I am not saying this is what you have, but it is what I have and only found thru this specialist. Please try to find a specialist or a dermotogist who can also treat the inflammation. My husband has been an angel throughout all of this. Yours will be the same. He knows it is not your fault. God bless and check out the other sites on Lichen Planus, Lichen Sclerosis on Yahoo. Keep asking questions and write to all of us and let us know how it is working for you. Good luck! > x >
