Guest guest
hey all, i'm warning you that this is a little gross. about 2 weeks ago i started have a wet feeling in my butt crack, mostly around my anus. it feels like something is seeping out of my anus. when i touch the area, it doesn't feel wet. it is also a little irritated. even when i'm not outside in the heat i have this feeling. it is really freaking me out. from what i've surmised, this can be related to hemmorhoids, anal fissures or fistulas, crohn's, etc. but i don't really know. i don't have my new insurance card yet (just moved) and my old insurance won't pay for anything other than emergency room. does anyone have any idea what this could be? should i go to the ER? julie
Guest guest
, take a hand mirror and see if you can look at the area and see anything. Maybe you could put the mirror on the floor and squat down over it. When do you get your insurance card? Can't you get COBRA from your old workplace? Guest guest
Be careful squatting too much. For three weeks I squatted over a mirror because I thought I had gotten herpes and I was compulsivley checking. I'm pretty sure this caused a spasm and touched off my vulvodynia. I remember going through a period when i could have sworn that water was being poured on my thigh -- it really felt wet -- but there was no external trigger for that sensation. It was very odd. Over the years i've discovered nerves can and do do all sorts of strange things. . . . Hollis

The nerve might be sending your brain signals that the area is wet, when in fact, it's not. Much like, for many of us, our nerves are sending signals to our brains that we are being injured in the vestibule/vulva, when in fact we are not. Just my first impression. Guest guest
If I need to look at that area (which is often) I don't sqat - I put a mirror on the toilet with the lid down and stand over it. Or I lay back in bed elevated on pillows and find the right view that way. Melinda
Guest guest
thanks for your responses everyone. i have been really distressed about this wet feeling....i'm not sure if i mentioned this in my first email, but i developed a sore throat at the same time the wet feeling around my anus started. i went to the ER and they were useless. they just referred me to a GI doc.....they said they couldn't feel anything, though from what I've read in order to diagnose fistulas, etc, a scope is needed in some cases. can wetness really be a symptoms of nerve issues? i can't seem to find any info on this. i also have a little itching, irritation and redness in the area. i am SOOO scared that this is yeast. i have taken a lot of antibiotics recently for lyme. i have watched my diet and been taking probiotics the whole time and antifungals on and off. since this started i've taken nizoral and ampho b, but they haven't made any difference. could the yeast have become resistant? i really don't know what to do.....this on top of my vulvar pain is too much. to boot my partner called me a hypochondriac.....it really hurt my feelings. i feel like my body is falling apart piece by piece, i'm only 26. thanks for listening. i would really appreciate any thoughts/suggestions. julie > > <<i started have a wet feeling in my butt crack, > mostly around my anus. it feels like something is seeping out of my > anus. when i touch the area, it doesn't feel wet. ... > does anyone have any idea what this could be? >> > > , > I don't know, but if you're having a wet sensation and it's NOT wet, I would think this might be a nerve issue. As i said, it was totally freaky when it happened to me: i would suddenly feel the sensation of water running down the front of my thigh -- as if i'd spilled some liquid on my pants -- and, when i'd check, nothing. I don't what can do that besides an out-of-whack nerve reaction. (Unless, in one of my parallel universes that broke through temporarily, i really WAS spilling coffee repeatedly on my leg. . .lol.) The itchy and irritation you're feeling, though, does make me wonder about the possibility of yeast. Hollis
Guest guest
I had that same sensation when my Baker's cyst (a cyst that forms behind the knee) ruptured. It was synovial fluid leaking down my leg (under my skin). I could feel it and my leg became swollen. It stayed swollen for six months and is still tender to the touch years later. It had nothing to do with yeast. Ora >, > >I'd say yes, since i've experienced it. Guest guest
hi ora-- how did you find out that was the cause of your symptoms? did you have to do anything to make it go away? thanks, julie > > I had that same sensation when my Baker's cyst (a cyst that forms behind the > knee) ruptured. Guest guest
When the cyst ruptured I felt like there was water running down my leg. so I took a look at my calf to see if it was wet and noticed that it was swollen. But it wasn't wet. As time went by that evening I looked it frequently and finally got alarmed so I called my doctor. He told me to come in the office the next day but I told him that it was swelling up a lot and I was concerned so he told me to go to the ER. At the ER they did an ultrasound and then told me that it was a ruptured Baker's cyst. I went home with no treatment plan because they said there was nothing I could do and that it was not something I needed to treat. But my leg was very painful to the touch for months afterwards and is still painful when pinched, (like when the doctor asks me if my ankles get swollen and pokes or squeezes them). I had had trouble with my knee for quite a while before that happened but on that particular day I took aleve for the pain and half an hour later the cyst ruptured. I blamed the Aleve and never took any more. It could have been coincidence though. Guest guest
, adults get irritated bottoms just like kids. It could very simply be that you need to put some A & D ointment on this area for a week or so and see what happens next. If this is cyclical, this could have to do with low estrogen, as I have a mild redness and itching in the same area during the progesterone phase of my cycle.
