Guest guest
I went to an Endocrinologist Monday, you know, the doctors that are supposed to UNDERSTAND the Endocrine system...the ones who SHOULD KNOW about hormones... I thought to myself surely, hopefully 'she' will be able to 'help' me in some way! WRONG! I am dumbfounded beyond belief. At least she was honest enough to tell me that she didn't KNOW anything about OVARIAN hormone function, but how on earth can that be possible? She told me I needed to find a gynecologist and that they could help me with my hormones. Yeah, right! We went in circles for an hour. I don't know about you all, but I'm so tired of going to doctors that don't seem to know much of anything, unless of course it's a classic TEXT book case. I am so shocked...and FRUSTRATED like crazy! She said that if I tested my estrogen levels there wouldn't be any way to get accurate levels because of me being on a estrogen patch?!!! HELLO.... it's an ESTRADIOL patch, so you do an ESTRADIOL test. Is that scary or what? Oh, and get a load of this, she kept referring to my use of bio-identical hormones as ALTERNATIVE medicine...she mentioned knowing a few docs who practiced alternative medicine...to which I kept saying, I'm not using alternative meds...I'm using bio-identicals! *UGH* I could say soooo much more, but I won't! So...I wasted more time and more money. She ordered no tests, and told me that if she could be of 'help' to let her know... ~Chelle
Guest guest
Chelle, Technically bio-identical hormones are alternative medicine and even though that's the category it fits in I don't blame you for getting upset about her using the wording. I feel the same way about massage therapy and even accupuncture (have used both at different times with some success for some of my health issues). I know you are tired of doctors but I'm wondering if seeing a reproductive endocrinologist (most will only see patients that are trying to conceive but there are a few that are willing to help women like us that aren't trying to have children) might be able to help you. I'm sorry it didn't work out with the regular endocrinologist hon. Kristy ________________________________________________________________________________\ ____ Building a website is a piece of cake. Guest guest
Chelle, I am so sorry about your appt. I agree that you should try a reproductive endo. I would actually write them a letter (or write a bunch of letters to a bunch of different ones in your area) and see ahead of time if they can help you before going in to see them. That is how I found the primary that is helping me now. HTH Hugs to you. Kimmi Ready for the edge of your seat? Check out tonight's top picks on Yahoo! TV.
