Guest guest
I know that some of you have known me for 4+ years, so this is really exciting for me and I just wanted to share how things have been going. For those of you who dont know me, I started vvs when I was 4 months pregnant. I havent been able to have sex or wear tampons since (4 years this month). Sometimes it even hurts to sit and it got progressively worse. So I did my homework and started to test the sex hormones. My levels kept dropping severely over the 4 years-not fun. So after going from doc to doc I was sick of being the bioidentical hormone guinea pig because even though you use bioidenticals, they can still make you feel like crap if they arent in balance. Cramps and migraines, nipple pain, etc....are not what I want to deal with on top of V pain..... So after " chatting " with Chelle, she was a good kick in the butt to get off of mine again and slam docs with letters to find yet someone else to help my cause....but this time I wanted a doc that was going to work WITH me versus the docs who know everything (the ones that made me feel even more like crap with all of the bioidenticals-you know the knowledgeable ones? LOL). ANYWAY, a couple of months ago, my Primary doc retired and passed my case onto his newbie doc that joined. She is AWESOME! Chelle and I discussed Vliet's work and I photocopied a ton of stuff about hormones and did yet another blood panel and a saliva panel. I also fought for a DEXA test. All showed really dangerously low levels of estradiol, and low levels of DHEA and testosterone. I also had bone loss. I am 33 years old. The doc and I discussed Vagifem for atrophy. My last estradiol test on day 3 (3 months ago) was 14. She wanted me to start for 1 month before doing anything else. I had sore boobs but that went away. Then I started the Vivelle dot E patch. I was to use it continuously- no break. I still get a period since I have normal Progesterone levels. The first month I felt wonderful. I usually have wicked headaches and crazy V pain before my period. I have had NONE. Its gone. YAY! I just got my latest blood results for day 3-taken last week. My estradiol is now up to 33. Normal according to the labs, but not for me. SO we are upping the patch dose to the middle level and will recheck in 3 months. I am getting the rest of the labs as well (I retested everything) and will have to also start supplementing DHEA. Since starting the estrogen, I still have pain on contact, but it is much less. I also can sit for long periods with NO PROBLEM. I still have a ton of pain at Ovulation time, but that is because my E to P ratio is so off at that time, but I am sure over time it will go away as well. I am so freaking excited. I just wanted to share since it seems that I found my key to this puzzle. Nobody knows why my body isnt making hormones anymore since pregnancy, but numerous docs keep telling me that strange things happen when you are pregnant. I hope that this email helps someone or kicks someone else in the butt to do their homework and dont ever give up trying to find out what is your problem causing your pain. Just remember, that what works for one may or may not work for another. But if you have never had your sex hormone levels checked, please do so. Oh, and the reason that the original bioidenticals made me feel so crappy----well, they kept giving me HIGH doses of progesterone and low levels of estradiol, causing my imbalance to be even more off than it is now. Guest guest
Kimmi, I think it is AWESOME the way things are improving for you! You know how I feel about the bio-identicals...I think they are best meds EVER! I hope that in time you will be able to post and say that things are back to 'normal' for you... big hug and a *grin*... ~Chelle

Guest guest
I was thinking this morning the fact that I have had THREE wonderful women professionals at UT Southwestern over my case is the reason I am doing so well. The first was Dr. Andersen an obgyn and teaching professor, she moved to New Jersey and Jane Kas-Wulf Nurse Practioner took over my treatment. Jane was WONDERFUL as well. She moved to teach Nurse Practioners in CO. So now Dr. Diane ObGyn is my friend! They all have different styles and approaches. I find a nurse practioner's approach my favorite style of treatment. At any rate I have benefitted tremendously and learned different things from each. I shall list one for each person. Dr. Andersen said "This CAN DISAPPEAR just as mysteriously as it came." Jane Kas-Wulf treated the entire "person" Not just a bottom line what is the diagnosis gal and was willing to give me TRAMADOL which befuddles as to why does this work! Dr. Diane is the first to suggest a vitamin other than a multiple. She said "Take a Super B Vitamin as they are SUPPOSED to heal nerves." So there you have a short synopsis of my benefits of treatments. love, ML oh and Dr. is the first to be open about talking about GOD! Re: WOOHOO!!! ANYWAY, a couple of months ago, my Primary doc retired and passed my case onto his newbie doc that joined. Guest guest
Kimmi, I am encouraged by your message...I've been putting off dealing with my hormones for months because I can't find a good endocrinologist and am just in limbo. What is a DEXA test? Should I read Vliet's book so I know what I'm talking about before I go to the endocrinologist? Melinda
