Guest guest
I've had vulvar pain for a little less than 2 years. I have a history of yeast infections, mostly one that lasted 5 months because none of the GYNS I went to could diagnose it and I'd never had one before. Finally someone suggested the candida thing, I did the diet, my problems went away. Fast forward 5 years of no v problems. I got one little, minor infection. Used some OTC creams, went to the doc and was given more creams, etc. and was left with the burning. Symptoms different than an infection, burning in the back half of the vestibule. No labial, vaginal or clitoral problems. Actually, now I only have pain in one quadrant of my vestibule which the doc just told me was a good sign and a a sign of improvement. Technically I only feel the pain in half of the area that I did originally but it still bothers me just as much. I can't say that anything has helped the most because I still have significant pain. I can more say what hasn't helped, but these things have certainly helped some. Diet (various kinds) hasn't helped me this time around (though I do not discount it because it saved my life last time), antibiotics, antifungals (all kinds), allergy treatments, steroids, topical estrogen, comfort measures, acupuncture. These have not helped me. I think PT is what made my one side better. My left side muscles were a lot worse off than my right so this might have something to do with it. The only other thing that helps for now is doing my best not to panic and totally freak out. I do notice that my pain is worse when I am in a panicked state. Guest guest
Ladies, to ALL of you that have responded to this post (below) so far...a BIG THANK-YOU! If you have yet to respond, please do whenever you see it. We need all the positive feed-back we can get. We've had several newbies join here recently so they need encouragement, too! Remember what it was like when you first had symptoms and had NO clue what was wrong. Boy, do I ever! When I developed symptoms there was no help from the Internet! I know, scary, huh? Please don't give up! Hugs to all, ~Chelle ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hi Ladies, I've been kicking around an idea that I think 'might' be helpful. Maybe, just maybe we'll be able to see a pattern or a trend here. Would you please write a 'brief' description of your vulvar pain symptoms and then list 1-3 treatments (in that order) you've tried that have helped your Vulvar pain the most? It can be meds, diet, surgery, PT, steroids, alternative meds (any and everything) doesn't matter....just list what has helped. And if 'nothing' has helped you so far, don't give up hope... Here goes: My vulvar pain has been mainly to the left side, it began with a raw irritation that developed suddenly many yrs ago. Can't wear tight clothes, especially jeans, definitely have contact pain but I've had 24/7 in the past as well, that is for the most part under control (flare at times). What's helped me the most: 1.) Topical Estrace Cream (by far has been the best help). 2.) Antihistamines (use Hydroxyzine 50 mg's at night). 3). Lidocaine gel (2% with a dab of 5% ointment) before sex. Who's next? Hugs, ~Chelle
