That can cause a lot of irritation to the nipple butnot get the proper results. Ora Ora, I think that makes perfect sense. When nursing my first child...he kept slipping down to the 'tip' of the nipple and that is what caused it to get to the point where it cracked and bled. The baby's mouth is supposed to actually be on the 'areola' and not just the nipple. But the question is, how do you teach a baby how to nurse properly? It was so mentally and emotionally draining in my case. I tried, and tried until I could not bear the pain anymore. With my second son, it started off good. He nursed well for the first 2 days. I bought an expensive breast pump and decided I'd use that if he slipped down to the tip. Sure enough, he slipped down, I began to pump around the clock...he never could get back on the breast properly...I had a teeny-tiny milk supply...and was exhausted... ~Chelle
