have any medical reason to be on the pill? Like Endo pain? If not, I would definitely consider giving it a try. Keep in mind too, that the pill can definitely cause depression and even make it harder to cope with all of this. You can always go back on it if you think you need to. My hubby had a vasectomy too when our youngest was 14 months. He did indeed go back for the sperm check and all is well! As a matter of fact, he did not want to go solo for the lab test... so, we had sex at home and I took the sample to the lab myself.
