Guest guest
Good Morning everybody, My name is Kathy and I joined this group today and wanted to briefly introduce me. I've been suffering from Vulvodynia Vestibulitis since about 2 yrs. Like many of us I tried several treatments including physical therapy, biofeedback therapy, low oxelate diet, antidepressants etc. I now found a physician I think will hopefully be able to help me get a vestibulectomy. I have an appointment with him this Friday to discuss this option and am hoping he will know about it and able to do this. I wanted to see if anybody had a vestibulectomy done and what you're experience with that was? And if there is a specific physician out there you would recommend in case mine won't be able to help? Thank you so much! Kathy
Guest guest
Hi Kathy, there are some ladies on here that have had a successful vestibulectomy...keep posting because you never know who is on the group from day to day and it might take a little time for someone to get back with you. When you say you tried Physical Therapy, did you go to someone who is updated in Pelvic Floor PT? I know 'some' women are getting well with from IC and Vulvar pain with good PT...we just all have to keep trying until we find something that works for us individually. Guest guest
My surgery was a success when nothing else worked. I had only contact pain though so I think this surgery works better when that is the primary symptom. > > Hi Kathy, there are some ladies on here that have had a successful vestibulectomy...keep posting because you never know who is on the group from day to day and it might take a little time for someone to get back with you. Guest guest
Good Morning ladies, Thank you for your responses first of all! I have had physical therapy along with biofeedback therapy with a PT who was specialized in pelvic pain. I also have the problem of contact pain, which is why I'm hoping to find relief through a vestibulectomy! Any help is greatly appreciated! Thank you! Guest guest
Hi Chelle, Yes, my physical therapy was with a pelvic floor PT and not successful. The pain was a little less in the beginning but then went back to being very painful again. I have contact pain so intercourse is still not possible. That's why I will talk to my doc about the vestibulectomy tomorrow. Hopefully I will be able to have that surgery... Guest guest
That's good to hear! I have contact pain as well which is why I really want this surgery - I don't want to try more pills or medication...Kathy Cerreta wrote: My surgery was a success when nothing else worked. Guest guest
All PTs are not alike. I went to five pelvic floor PTs before finding a good one (no comparison, but how was I to know? They all SAID they were experienced and successful). I am now well. I just thought I'd mention that so no one gets turned off PT. love, MOllylovemybabyk wrote: Good Morning ladies,Thank you for your responses first of all!I have had physical therapy along with biofeedback therapy with a PT who was specialized in pelvic pain.I also have the problem of contact pain, which is why I'm hoping to find relief through a vestibulectomy!Any help is greatly appreciated!Thank you!Kathy __________________________________________________
Guest guest
I didn't mean for it to come across that way at all. It's something very individual what works and doesn't work and unfortunately PT didn't work for me - but that doesn't mean it doesn't work for other people at all!!! I'm sure for some women the vestibulectomy worked and for some it didn't. I just feel like it's time for me to have the surgery and I am hopeful it will help me!
