Guest guest
I never had a problem with yeast until my V problems began about 5 years ago. I was tested twice for diabetes and both times it was negative. I've tried OTC's, Diflucan and boric acid with not much success. A couple days ago I started taking the probiotic Fem- Dophilous, and now I have the worst yeast infection ever! Is it possible the Fem-D. is causing the infection? I'm so confused! Guest guest
Maybe you dont have yeast..... maybe you have a specific kind of vaginosis seen here:http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/sites/entrez?db=pubmed & uid=1951582 & cmd=showdetailview & indexed=googleandhttp://www.ispub.com/ostia/index.php?xmlFilePath=journals/ijanp/vol6n1/vaginosis.xmlWhen you had these infections the docs prescribed the meds for, did they culture it to find the strain of yeast you had and did they also run a sensitivities test on those cultures to find out what drug/med would actually eradicate the strain of yeast you had? This is important because some strains ofyeast respond to only certain types of meds and if you aren't getting the RIGHT med - you'll have a really hard time getting free of the yeast.DUstyKathy wrote: I never had a problem with yeast until my V problems began about 5 years ago. Guest guest
Kathy, Often if we have systemic yeast (candidiasis) and start taking measures against it, we can get a " die-ff " reaction, where we feel worse before we feel better, because the yeast is fighting to live, and also because the dead yeasts are coming out. Just a thought. Melinda
Guest guest
My doctor did culture the yeast, butI'm not sure about the sensitivity test. Thanks for posting those links, that's a lot of info! It's just so frustrating to keep getting these infections. Kathy>
Guest guest
That's what I was thinking (hoping) that it is. I'd sure hate to go on that diet! Thanks Melinda
Guest guest
I hear you! I had an infection about three months ago. Three weeks after stopping the meds, I had infection #2. A week after stopping the meds infection #3. My NP has rx'd weekly diflucan for six months, I'm also taking anti-yeast herbals, drinking tons of water, taking probiotics, and watching my diet. I'm having trouble sticking completely to the proper diet, though. Guest guest
Hi , I'm not sure, but I think the cause of my yeast infections may be hormonal. Since I'm 40 something (yikes!), I'm pretty sure I'm in meno. Right around the time my v symptoms started, I noticed my period getting irregular. I am on bio-identical hormones, but I still feel that since my body isn't actually making hormones, the infections are related. I did the six months of Diflucan also, but it didn't help much, and I don't think it's good to take those things for too long. I'm going to look into some herbal type anti yeast products also. Good luck. Kathy
